Sir, yes valves are going to need to be pressed open to line up your cam gears perfectly, hence the tension. I would never use "zip ties. Have a buddy hold the 17mm wrenches and you make sure the crank is in TDC. Also if you are using balance shafts make sure the oil pump and shafts are already in relation, Make sure the timing belt is loose on the tensioner side, before turning the idler pulley tightening the 14 mm bold in the center of the pulley and replacing the hydraulic tensioner!. Turn engine over 4 times until the #1piston is in the compression stroke and recheck the marks. Good luck!
