Currently I'm in the middle of reinstalling my motor back into my 97 GST. I am having a hell of a time getting the mounts to line up. Right now I have the driver side and passenger side main mounts in and I figured that would be enough to pull the motor into proper alignment to allow the front and rear mounts to bolt in. Wrong, some how I need to push the engine back alittle to allow the bolt to go through the front mount . Can anyone suggest an easy way to do this or any way to do this? If it matters im using prothanes.

I, too, had a hell of a time lining it up. I kept trying to raise and lower the engine with a jack, and at the same, get the bolt threaded in the hole. This did not work well for me.

But, a flashlight worked well. Shine a flashlight down through the hole where the bolt goes and either raise or lift the engine with a jack until you can physically see that everything is lined up. After that, the bolt should slide right in.

This is for the driver side mount. I had no problems with lining up the passenger side mount.

But thats the thing, I have both the driver and passenger side mounts in. It's the front and rear mounts that are giving me trouble.
My appologies. I read your first post too fast and did not see that you already had the side mounts in.

I cannot comment on the rear insert because I never installed mine, but the front one was a piece of cake. The bolt is much smaller than the hole, so there should not be a problem at all in getting it lined up enough to push the bolt through......

I've always done mine from the front, tranny, rear, driver, in that order.

If the motor sat to long without one of the mounts installed it may have flexed the rest of them. In this case it's a long process of just jacking up the engine, loosing different mounts, and cussing. I had to sit on the windshield and push the engine forward while someone else pulled and bolted the mount in.

Well last night I went to do it and It had done just that. Fixed itsself I mean, it was just a matter of me going outside sliding the bolt in hitting it hard with a hammer and it sliding through LOL.
