This is a bit of a dumb question, and I think I already know the answer, but I figured It was worth asking anyway.

Is there any way to make the key ring come on and dim with the gauge pod lights, other than just rewiring it? Don't ask me why... It just feels like it should be on.

Has anyone done this?

If I remember correctly the key ring is on the circuit with the floor lights. It turns on via the door pin switches and dims off with them too. It's so you don't need hair around the ignition switch to find it.

So short of rewiring it I don't think so. You could look at adding another light source that worked via the gauges.
