Ok... this is not my car, but it sounds just like what I have, and its the same car.. A VR4 with a 6g72tt... of course.. LOL

I got this SAME sound comming form my car, and I need to know if it is rod knock or a lifter.. and I am really hoping for a lifter, because the sound is so fast....

check it out, and please respond.. I need my car this weekend...

o yeah... and its a 92

I pulled the oilpan off, and a nut on the rod came loose somehow... bearings toast, cranks toast, that rod is toast...

sooo.. looks like it would be better just find a 6g72tt shortblock... considering the cost of money and time to get a crank, bearings, rods, rering, pull the motor, take it apart.. etc etc etc...

anyone know any good spots in cali to get a motor? or anyone have a friend of a friend that has a vr4 motor just chillin? I just dont want to have my pants pulled down over the price.. I would like to just get a short block, as everything else in the car is tip top... I even checked the cam journals.. not a scratch on them... so I can just pull the heads and clean them and everything should be kosher.. I just need a motor..

any suggestions?

take your time and rebuild it yourself. if you dont know how to rebuild an engine, do some reading. if you dont have to tools to do it, you might be screwed in paying someone "reputatable" to do it. good luck.

I can rebuild a motor in my sleep.. but the problem is, I dont have time to machine and wait for parts and assemble.. I can probably just spend a lil more and get a good used short block, then all I need is some ARP head studs and 2 head gaskets...

thats why I want a short block.. then I can just SUPER build the other one over time and still drive around
