I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

Heres a pic of my ebay intercooler. Its made by CxRacing and its 24"x11"x3". I bought the kit and it came with 2.5" short route piping for $320 shipped to my door. The packaging was awesome and it looks amazing too. The only bad part about the kit is that it was a pain in the butt to route the pipes from the stock t25 turbo to the driver side of the intercooler. Im at school now till friday but when I go home for the weekend I will take more detailed photos of the intercooler and the piping. :dsm:

Looks good but the piping looks a bit long.

yea its real hard to beat the SSAC kit.

but its nice to see owners have a lot of options if for some reason they don't want to get the SSAC kit.

noonan98turbo, you said it came with the piping, was it just a bunch of pipes that you had to make fit, or was it piping routed for our cars? lets see some bigger pics and of the routing also.

I represent a SSAC short route FMIC. I think it was like 280 shipped or something like that a few years ago when i got it.

Install was wicked easy, except i had to cut the radiator support and cut the crash beam up. Other than that it easy. took me about 4-5 hours by myself in the rain to do it. Damn New England.:notgood: But other than that its seen up to 28psi and withstanded winters for 2 years. It was worth the money.

The pipes it came with consisted of a bunch of different pipes that I needed to route myself, consisting of straight pipe, L-shape and 90 degree bends, along with the throttle body elbow flanged for either a 1g or greddy bov. Im going home for weekend so saturday I will take pics of the routing and I will try and make them bigger for you guys.

Yeah the piping is a bit long but I installed the intercooler right before I left for school so I did not have much time to make it look nice. I tried to just run the pipes and get the car running asap so the car would be running before I left for school. But this weekend when I go home I plan on cutting the pipes down a bit, as it does look a bit goofy right now.

I'm considering getting a ebay FMIC soon. Is there a specific ebay seller you guys recommend to get the FMIC from? Here's a link to two FMICs that I'm interested in:

eBay Motors: 95-99 Eclipse 2G 4G63 Turbo FMIC Intercooler+Piping Kit (item 380069613753 end time Oct-10-08 00:31:56 PDT)

eBay Motors: 2G Eclipse Talon DSM FMIC Front Mount Intercooler Kit (item 230299034773 end time Oct-12-08 18:30:09 PDT)

Which would you choose? Is that core good or would you guys recommend something else? Looks like the two cores look identical.

The second option is a better deal considering it includes the missing hardware that the first one doesn't include.

Thats the SSAC fmic kit. Thats how much I got mine for but theres someone in the classified selling it for $290 shipped or something with the missing coupler and 2 T-bolt clamps.

$280 + shipping :)

Isn't the price $280 + shipping in the classified section? Mangina24, you're the seller in the classified section and also the eBay seller?

I bought a godspeed innercooler and i only saw 1.5 lb boost drop. Not bad for a front mount, and it does point back towards the passenger side on top. I think i only paid around $275.

Here are the pics that I promised of my intercooler piping. Sorry it took me so long. I had the pipes welded together so that Im only using 4 couplers total, and thats including the two for the end tanks of the intercooler and the 90 degree coming off the turbo. I ended up having to cut the neck off the stock t25 to properly route the piping and keep it as short as possible. I plan on upgrading the turbo soon anyway, but I just couldnt wait to put the intercooler on. Dont mind the engine bay, its a little dirty and has quite a bit of rust.
