I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

Anyone have pics of thier lower intercooler piping? Preferably from under the car?

I'm in the middle of my install, and the only way I see that I can properly install the LICP without either breaking the sensor on the oil filter housing or rubbing against the actual oil filter housing would be to mount the I/C lower, or to cut a couple inches off the hot side end tank.

Your profile doesnt say you have an upgraded turbo, so I assume you are running on a t25? I finished the install up a week or two ago and I had to bend the male fitting on that sensor up a little and it fit right in there, but that is with the custom licp->turbo pipe I made. Now if I only had a camera... :sosad:

If you decide to do this and finish up the install, don't be frightened by the flashing oil light on the dash...that would just be your licp grounding that sensor...just stuff something that wont melt inbetween the two.

I have a 50 trim that's clocked straight down. I'm actually going to mount hte radiator and fan back on later today then attempt to either lower the fmic from the top fog light bolt holes to a couple inches lower, or I'll remove some of the hot side end tank.

I honestly don't want any electrical problems and absolutely no rubbing of anything.

I walked in the door like 15 mins ago (it took me about 10 to unpack the thing, very well packed) and this beast was waiting for me. You can get an idea of the good packaging from my pictures. I haven't dug deep enough to find the pipes yet. :rocks: I've got peanut fragments everywhere.

Ok, I dug out the piping. Everything is polished, great quality and beefy welds. The inside of the BOV flange is also grinded out. Looks like they updated their kit, but the throttle body flange still needs to be resurfaced and I'm still missing a coupler and a few clamps. What a buy for 295 shipped. :thumb:

ive read over this thread a few times, and ive ordered a fmic about about a month or 2 ago, and got some used intercooler piping off of ebay for 20$ , the fmic was easy to install no problems i got the 24 x 5.5 x 2.5 , and i measure it myself and its 6 3/4" tall. i dont know why they have it posted as 5.5" but i installed it ad besides every intercooler blowing off 10 times each and blowing holes in 3 couplers and using 10 of my friends tbolt clamps, and took all of my pipes to a friends shop to have them bead rolled, even the slightest bead made the biggest difference , i went from a 12.8 @104 to a 12.5 @ 109 with mainly just an this intercooler and i believe i can go faster , it does make the biggest difference , its just a great bang for the buck. ( sorry for grammatical and punctual errors im tired :p )

I was wondering if someone could help me out with the install. What exactly are you supposed to do with the power steering lines? On most the installs ive read people have just pushed or ziptied them back but theres no way that would work for me. The side tabs on the intercooler are supposed to be flush with the frame or at least a couple washers spaced off it and my drivers side isnt even close. Can someone enlighten me what I should do?
