Calgary,
Hey guys, I'm grabbin a Palm pretty quick, so out goes the laptop. It's a 90 Talon TSI with no ABS. The question is, I want to do a fairly permanent install. Leaving the cable installed to my OBDI port, but just disconnecting the Palm so it doesn't get stolen. Can I leave the logger cable plugged in all of the time or does it mess something up? I don't get a CEL or a ABS light( I don't have ABS.)

Thanks guys

The only thing that came on in my car was the ABS light, and I always left mine plugged in; it was basically a permanent setup. Since you don't have an ABS light, I wouldn't worry about it. Most people that have these setups leave them plugged in.

I leave my logger plugged in at all times. It's the same thing as having a gauge, but better. I am constantly looking at my trims making sure they're where I want them. Also looking at O2 voltage constantly, etc. It's the best gauge you can have and it has proven to be priceless to me in the past two weeks when i did my motor swap and installed my new MAFT. I love this damn thing!

Ask the manufacturer of your setup. I had the same question, asked, and was given the electrical specs. I made the decision to NOT leave it connected all the time as I drive the car only once every couple of weeks and the current draw (while pretty small) was more than I care to see over that time period.

I have left my logger cable plugged in since last August. I just make sure to turn off my palm before shutting down the car and i get NO ABS light the next start-up. In the picture below you can see the serial cable adapter just right of my center vents. I also have to say thet my logger is the best guage i have in the car!
