So I bought a used lc1 wideband for cheap and last week I hooked up the lc1 and everything seemed to be working fine except the led burnt out since it wasnt working and the gauge shows a solid 22.4 when i fire up the car. When its on the "on" position the gauge shows 7.4-8.0 up and down..... I replace the led with a radioshack one and while I did the calibration process everything worked fine it blink as it was suppose to do. but the gauge shows solid 22.4 when i start the car and all....lame...I called innovate and told me what the led does when its on the on position and well i havent really payed attention to the led but I guess its solid red??? They told me to remove that led and hook up the lc1 to my computer....so now Im like wtf??? I just need this thing to work and finally I get to tune it. When the car is idling the led is solid red is this ok or is there a problem?

Im going to have to replace it and see... because when i was recalibrating it, i touched the tip and it was hot (heater mode). I contacted the previous seller, if things dont go well im going to want my refund via ebay......

If i remember correctly its possibly a grounding problem. I did one on an SRT4 a while ago and he grounded it to the stereo ground causing it to read 22 max afr.

If you're sure the ground is good then I would move onto the o2 heater and make sure you give it a bit to warm up, Also make sure to do the free air calibration and keep the sensor somewhat far away from the end of the exhaust.

Check innovates manual.

I grounded it by the stereo...is that bad? LOL....should I ground the blue and white w.e they are somewhere else amigo?

lc1install This pretty much sums up the Install... . As well though, make sure you are giving the sensor enough time to finish the calibration. Keep in mind also... . That if the sensor comes unhooked with the controller on. Then it will need to be recalibrated again.

Yup, that's the page I followed for my install. OP, you can see how I wired it up in this tech article: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...4675-innovate-lc-1-wideband-installation.html

Never had a problem with my LC-1...

Also, make certain you're not getting any error codes. The LC-1 gives an LED blink sequence corresponding to a specific error. You can look up the different error codes in the LC-1 manual: http://innovatemotorsports.com/support.php

This is why tech support wanted to know what the LED was doing. If you're not getting an LED error sequence, the sensor is probably still good, and I'd be willing to bet that it's due to grounding at the stereo.

Yeah it gives no error codes. I mean a while ago i went to my car and turn the ignition key to ON, and notice some blinking sequence and on the gauge it was 7.4 to 8 etc ....then the led went solid red and the gauge displayed 22.1-22.4. But when I start the car it stays at 22.4 Hmmm...Im going to read and do what the article says..

Wow that seems much more easier and better...Im going to try that tomorrow morning.... I have the wires somewhat different....Im going to attempt this since alot will come from the ecu... fantastic..

Yeah, definitely try the simple stuff first :thumb: It's all part of the debugging process.

Good luck with it and let us know what happens...

alright guys im back. finally had time to rewire everything. The only thing I changed was the blue wire (ground) and I had it grounded to the ecu input 106 (1g dsm). Makes no difference. But.....without the car in the on postion (car not on just ignition) I get an error code 8. any ideas?

Im NOT running dsmlink btw

Not sure why you put the blue wire to an ECU input when you could've just put a ring terminal on and put it on a bolt that is a good ground.

Either way, if you check out the LC-1 manual, you'll see that an error code 8 is this:

Sensor Timing error (typically a damaged sensor).

Likely root causes:

1. Sensor overheating. (The Bosch LSU4.2 is rated to operate at a sensor housing temperature of < 900 degrees (measured at the bung) for maximum accuracy and control. When this operating temperature range is exceeded, the sensor can no longer be accurately controlled. )
2. Sensor is damaged.

Fixes:

1. a. Perform sensor heater recalibration; b. Move your sensor bung as far downstream as possible. Right before the cat, or 2-3 feet from the end of the tailpipe are good locations; c. Add a heatsink to
isolate the sensor from the pipe. The HBX-1 is an available accessory.
2. Replace sensor.

Ok thanks. Im confused on how the error code 8 pops up. I researched on google and others who have had the same issue say that the code pops up while they are driving. I do not get a code while driving. Just a solid led and 22.4 when driving.

I get the led flashing 8 times when I turn the key to the on position without starting the car yet. Just to turn on the WB. When I fire her up the WB jumps to 22.4 and led is solid red.

So I borrowed a sensor from a fellow friend and still I get error code 8. He told me it works and I believe him. For some reason when I hooked it up to the laptop it will go through heater mode and warm up and then I will get an error code 8. wtf. Did this with both sensors. mine and his. Still the same thing. I called up innovate and those guys dont help man. They stay quiet and repeat the questions if I did this and that. sh**....

Send it to innovate for testing, if it's bad they'll give you a new one.

Right on I called back and a guy named Felip helped me out. I exaggerated that I used 3 sensors but hey I needed the help bad. He told me to fill out a form and for 45 bucks they'll inspect/repair it. Not bad.
