Laptop Logging Software?

What is the best freeware LAPTOP logging software out there for me to use with my 1g. I just got ahold of a REAL nice laptop for free, so I cant see spending money on a pda or something.. I'll just use this.. I just need to know if the cable is the same and what software is best to use. I appreciate the help. Thanks!

I've posted this before and to my knowledge there is not a logging software that is free that you can use on a laptop. TMO use to have a logging software out for laptops but it ran around 300 bucks which is way to much when you can get DSM link for a 200 more.

The only logging software that I know of that is reasonably price and worth the money is DSM Link. Which I am sure that you already know will do a lot more than just logging. Instead of going with an AFC and a logger I would definately go that route instead if you can afford it. I regret not doing that when I did my fuel set-up.

ok, this is what my research and those links you provided have led me to.. I have downloaded and loaded up Tunerstein, and it seems to work properly on the laptop, other than the fact I dont have a cable and it seems it needs that before the program can run, so It loads up but I wont know that it actually RUNS until I get the cable. I also found this cable, and really like the looks of it and its quality. vs. making one.. heres the link.

I mean the laptop was free and the program free, so for the amt of the cable I have a logger.. I'm just looking for something to get some logs to find out whats going on with the car.. a tool to help me fix some of the problems I'm having, I HOPE... This will suffice until I get DSMLink.. Wich I also have loaded on the laptop just need to get her running and get everything put together and all that.. Please tell me If my logic is off or if I'm going to have problems.. Thanks.
