I've got all the equipment needed to make the braces and all that shit, I just can't find good pics of the hinges like they have on the Decah ones, I've made 5 different hinge designs and wanna see which is closest to theirs.

try clickin the link right above the one you responded too... Give me till tonite and I'll have a .zip file up with the installation instructions they sell on ebay. That link is the .ppt presentation the first guy offered up

I know of a company that sells the whole lambo kit for $2000. It comes with everything that you need to bolt it up, and only takes around 1.5 hours to install with 2 people. It's a complete hinge and shock assembly painted to your cars spec.

:dsm: Can i get that email also, thanks in advance! :dsm:

Ok folks a couple of things here.

First of.. I own a company that makes the kit for the 2G. With that being said I am sure that some of you are going to say... what he is saying is a sales pitch.

What I am going to tell you isnt going to force you to buy anything from me. I am trying to throw you a little knowledge to make some informed decisions.

Those directions you have dont get you close. They make you think you are close but in reality you are a ways away. We have spent hours and hours perfecting our kit. Its not just something that is slapped together.

There is even some guy selling instructions saying you can go to Auto Zone and buy everything you need to do the conversion. Sure you can... If that was the case then everyone would have them on their car.

The truth of it is it requires special material, special fasteners and special struts IF you are crazy enough to go the gas strut route.

Here is why I say that.

Gas struts are the same things that hold your rear hatch up. What happens to your rear hatch when it gets cold out or they get worn out? The hatch falls down right?

The door weighs more than the hatch and the struts have even more leverage on the hatch. If the door falls it is going to fall fast.

Its not a question of IF the door will fall it is a question of when.

You are limited by quite a few things with our car. The most important thing is space. You have to have a strut that will lift the car, be thick enough to support it while it is up and not stick out from the fender. Such a strut does not exist. - I know you are saying well the other folks have that on their cars. This guy is crazy... well take a look next time you are at the shows. Talk to the people who have had the doors on their car for a while... Look to see if they dont have a pair of vice grips or something preventing the doors from falling... If they dont today they will tomorrow because those shocks do fail! When they fail it isnt always over time. They BLOW OUT>

Imagine this... your girl is getting out of the car. She opens the door and then the home made kit that you bought has a strut that fails. Instead of her getting out of the car like she has so many times before the door falls straight down on her leg and brakes it... or even worse falls on her head and kills her.

Who do you think her family is going to sue? What kind of safety issue do you think stems from a home made kit? Sure they tell you how to make the doors go up. But they dont tell you how to make them safe. They dont tell you how to make them last which is a big part of making them safe.

Lets just assume for arguements sake... you dont get crippled or killed by a falling door- what do you think is going to happen to the body and A Pillar of your car when the full weight of that door falls? I am thinking that you are going to go visit the body shop and that can add up too.

What is more... for those of you who like to show your car at the car show... what about the 1 million people who want to know how the door goes up in the air...? They are always foolishly sticking their head down there trying to take pictures of the set up. They dont even think for a second - what happens if this door falls. NO ONE even considers that the door is not safe.

Lets just suppose that one of the spectators goes ahead and sticks their head up there and then one of his 16 year old friends decides to see how the door works and it is at that moment the strut gives out. Who do you think the spectators are going to sue? You pal - plain and simple. It was your hinge right? Your design right? You were showing with the doors up and you allowed them to stick their head under there right?

Another item about safety is ... the gas in the strut. When it is closed it is located just behind the drivers and passengers tire.

If you were to be hit in a car crash that gas would blow just like a grenade. Who here wants to have a grenade go off right by their leg?

Now it may sound like I am anti lambo doors but in reality I am totally for them. I just want them done the right way. We offer a kit that has fail safes built into them.

Anyone who is interested in learning about safe lambo doors and kits that are truly bolt on please check out our website. www.kazetech.net or email us at [email protected].

I hope I havent ruffled anyones feathers here. I am just sharing some of the experience we have had and providing you some of the forethought that went into the design of our kit.

Thank you,

Michael

good note to note, im all for the lambo doors and i never even thought about the saftey issues, thanks for the insight :thumb:

I also can't believe that after all the posts i've read on lambo doors, no one ever talked about the safety issues. I have bad enough luck with everything else. I can already see the door falling on me.

BurnAndPeel... i'm interested in seeing your price for the kits.
