Lambo vertical Doors [Merged 8-7]

I like the lambo conversion........i think as far a as the show scene is concerned it may be time to up the ante a little and for someone to try to do something more different with the doors.

How about doors that slide out? , kind of like a drawer but with no bottom, and only hinged on one side? We could call them "drawer doors" and all get little "vtec" and "powered by Honda" stickers with some nice neon lights and decals to put on them.

i have a 2G RS, no powrs windows or locks. i want to know if anyone has avoided the expensive DECAH kit and took the "Do it yourself" challenge. if so please enlighten me. (and over 20 people have tried to talk me out of it, but i am very persistant) i need to know what strength struts to use, hinge info., and how to set it up so that the mirror will prop out to clear the a-pillar on the windshield as when the door is being opened. i will appreciate any and all advice, information, and opinions or comments. i am desperate for help. thanks!

Yeah...usually when things cost alot, there's a reason. If any idiot could just throw together a lambo door kit, they wouldn't be able to charge so much. And I doubt you're going to get any "useful" replies to this thread....if you do a search you'll see this subject has been repeatedly beat to death and no one really knows much about it.

..go to www.kazetech.net and contact Michael Link. He can put you in the right direction. He and a designer re-engineered the DeCah kit to perform better for our cars and created and new design in the hinge. Your DSM door put over 500lbs of force on the pivot point for the Lambo doors...so they redid the hinge and strut design so it keeps performing for some time. I think they went with hydrualic rams. Ask Michael and tell him Leo from Carbonwerks sent you.

I have a powerpoint that explains very well the basic theory behind doing it yourself-with pictures. It's a must read if you are at all interested in Lambo doors. It's a 1.7 meg file, I could email it to you if you like.

I have a friend that sells parts that says he can get the kit for 1700 bux..
this is contrary to my friend who does my upholstery who thinks he can do the job under 5-600 bux...
If he could do that would you want the know how? how much is something like that worth? Perhaps i can stand to make some money if he really could do it that cheap?
