Lambo vertical Doors [Merged 8-7]

I saw an OLD jetta painted chamelion. I figure the paint cost more than what the car was worth.

i dont like chameleon but they do have a new Chrome chameleon paint...it still changes colors but on it a ### way. It is one color from one way...the at a different angle, it is a complete diff color....In the above mentioned it is mulriple colors at once...i like the solid flip myself...adn it doesn't look purple

Going doors (Gullwing) = like the delorian in back to the future
Scissor doors = like the one above and like lamborgini's
Sucide doors = open backwards like the gangsta days

On another note i know some one who just started a company that makes BOLT-ON system scissor doors, and he just made the system for the DSM's Oh yeah its only $1,600 no cutting, welding painting, nothing completly bolt on and takes an hour to put on, you will see a pic of my car in april with it on.

Well this guy just started a company that makes bolton systems for scissor doors. finnaly made the BOLT on system for the DSM's, yes Bolt on - no cutting, no-welding, no-painting, complete bolt on. $1,600 for the kit. In about a month you will see them, i'll post pic's when i put them on for you all to check out if you dont believe me. It will open up like a lamborgini! For the price, its a nice body mod, i mean, thats if you got all your motor work done of course!

I don't know what kind of lamborgini doors your going to get for $300. I know the owner of a widely know shop down here in Florida who buys the actuall hinges for $1200 in bulk. That's the real thing and that's without body work. Be careful what you buy for a couple of hundred.

Does anyone have, or know where I can find plans for the conversion? My car is going in the shop hopefully towards the end of summer, so I am going to attempt the lambo doors before I paint her. Just foundthe paint I think I am using... Standox has a new line of paint, similar to the chromallusion, but nicer. Its called silver ice, i believe. Its pretty much silver, with a green and purple pearl, looks awsome from the samples I just got.

Also, I am looking for new ideas for some exterior mods. I want something original, that wont be seen on every other car. I was thinking maybe 2nd gen Eclipse tail light conversion, or maybe the 3rd gen Eclipse tails (only thing on the 3rd gen's I like). No guady wings, no guady body kits... I am looking to be unique, I want my car to be original.

goto your local 7-11 and pick up a minitruckin. There is a company in there that sells motorized lambo hinges that are universal.
Just a thought.
edit: actually i just found a minitruckin , goto www.autoloc.com they sell the hinges.

and he is or already has created a BolT-ON conversion for our car,
it takes like 45minutes to install and your done!
and the new hinge you can set it to open normal also

1.) He is a member, but he doesn't post. He just has pics in the gallery.

2.) I know it's been said, but "Lambo" doors are called Scissor Doors.

3.) There is a site for 2g DSM Lambo door bolt-on kits, and I think they cost around $1500. Unfortunately I can't remember the site, just do a search.

4.) There is no kit for a 1g becuase of this reason: in order for Scissor (Lambo) doors to swing up, there needs to be clearance from the roof. A 2g door has no window trim at the top, and when the door is closed it doesn't close under the roof, just "next to it." A 1g DOES have the window trim at the top, and the door closes under the roof. Therefore, these hinges would have to be made in such a way that the door swings out, and then up, or you would have to do some major modding to get rid of the door framing and still have a good seal when the door is closed...

5.) $1200 bulk for actual Lambo hinges is normal because a.) they are "hard to come by," b.) an easy way to make money, c.) they could be an actual Lambo stock part, and d.) they haven't been around long. But all they are is a simple metal hinge and a gas shock to hold the door up. Nothing expensive or fancy. You can make your own for a LOT less...

6.) Cameleon paint is awesome, definately gives a show car more show.
