hey guys it the first time i post in this section so help me out i want to get eaither lambo doors or air ride on my 97 spyder gst what are the ups and downs of the two? and i know i can get the doors for like 550$ so any ideas to look for the air ride suspention?? and links would be great let me know your ideas thanks!

None. Get an exhaust system with the 500 bucks.

But if you find a strong urge to get one of the two, Scissor doors would be better. No tank and extra weight to worry about. Plus your GST would still handle like a sports compact and not a low rider.

Good luck on your choice.

in my personal opinion id go for the air ride all the way, with the lambo doors, literally all you are paying for is 2 metal brackets, one for each door nothing more, thats 500-1000 dollars for a set of brackets, i dont know about you but that to me seems like a total rip, least with the air ride you get what you pay for, adjustable ride height, you can make it stiff or cushy and your will any height you want, slam it when you park, lambo doors, u spend 500-1000 dollars for brackets, ur doors open up instead of sideways, plus i hear its a real BlTCH to keep them aligned and opening and closing right, id say air ride, every one is doin lambos on their hondas now adays.

well i just dumped alot of money into the engine fresh 6botl swap with s16g some other small stuff and i got a full kit and white 17s on it i just want something big like the lambo doors or air ride. Only thing i know its gonan weight me down but i think air ride would be funnnnn any of you guys have it that like it???

im very against lambo doors unless you have a shitload of other body mods to make them fit right in... what's done to your body? go with airride if you have big rims you would like to tuck, and dont care about launching hard. go with lambo doors if you still like to hit the track, and have other supporting body mods to go along with them.

Please dont flame, i was just wondering. would you be able to cut the window frames off the doors, and weld them to the roof? that way lambo doors would look better? im not planning on getting them i was just curious

If some one was talented enough, I think it could be done. Only problem would be that the window would have to be rolled down every time you open the door. Ur just like me thinkin about stuff like that.

yeah i dunnno they look badass thow think about a drop top with them it would be flyyyyy!!!! anyone got links to air ride set up how much would it run for the air ride? anyone have it that likes it?

Or you could really creative and make new window frames that flush mount (like Neon's etc). I think the stability of the window would be pretty terrible though.

I just took my air ride off actually, if it gets very cold in the winter where you live I wouldn't go with it myself. I live in Ohio and it gets below zero sometimes, but any kind of below freezing weather doesn't work out well with an air ride system. The compressed air forms moisture and the moisture freezes, that eventually can freeze your valves which means you're not going anywhere LOL. Other than that I really liked it and everyone else seemed to love it too, definitely a nice asset at shows. The only problem with it other than that is the occasional air leak you'll have to fix which isn't fun at all. If you're planning to install the air ride yourself like I did, it can be a lot of work on an Eclipse. As for the lambo door conversion that's easy to do yourself. But I've been thinking about going lambo for awhile now. I hear bad things about it though and that's what's keeping me from doing it. I hear the doors go out of alignment quite a bit and you have to re-set them. Does anyone know if this is true? I would think it would be, and the places say the doors seal like factory. Does anyone know if that is true with lambo?

id go with the doors. air suspension, you will probably regret buying if you drive alot. and will find it having alot of problems, mostly leaks. airride is best for show cars that get hauled around in a trailer.

my buddy has them (doors) on his celica and he said it only sucks cause u have to open the girls door all the time and they dont seal the best like on the free way u get all the noise it makes! im leaning into the air ride more than anything i think! how much did u pay for your system?? should i go new or used??

If you buy a cheap lambo kit it sucks. As with eerything else its a question of quality on what you buy. You can buy cheap shocks for the car...but are they as good as a good qauality shock? No.
You can by a cheap ass stereokit..is it as good as good quality kit? N.

So...if you get a more expencive kit it will hold up alot better then many BS kits out there as well.

As for the question...I would prolly go for airrides since I think its a cool mod and can be used in many funny ways. Personally I am getting lambo doors (GOOD ONE!) since I live where its -25dgrs C sometimes so..even if the spyderis tucked away during winter it can still freeze up real good :-(

If the pic in your gallery is your car, then i'd go with the doors since it'd probably go nicely with your Blitz (assuming that's the kit I see) body kit.

I'm personally super opposed to air or hydraulic suspension on performance cars. ugh..

My kit was $1400, but I added more to it to make it a little easier to work. You'll probably want to do the same. You'll definitely want a 100% duty cycle compressor, I chose a Viair 450c chrome (about 250 dollars) and it worked awesome never had a problem with it. 100% duty just means that it can be on 100% of the time and not overheat. The kit came with a cheaper compressor that was like 25% duty. The kit came with cheap press-on fittings, you don't want to use those trust me. They might not leak for the first weak but they develop leaks like crazy in time. Replace all the fittings you can with brass compression fittings. These may leak from time to time but it's WELL worth the money. It took me about 50 dollars to replace mine. You will probably want to invest in an adjustable pressure switch as I did to get the pressure just right, if not you may be hopping the rear end off the ground like I did for awhile haha. I also added a second 10 switch console with a longer cord to stand far away n control it at shows. Air line is another thing to think about, it's all about how fast you want it to rise and drop. I had 3/8 inch air line and it was very fast. I wouldn't go over that with a DSM myself, mine slammed down pretty hard and like I said, it could hop the rear end off the ground if I turned it up. If you're wanting to do tricks with it, get a Front Back Side to Side kit like I had (FBSS), this allows you to control all the wheels individually. You can 3 wheel, pancake, lean side to side, front to back, dog leg, whatever you want to do pretty much. All together I had about 1800 in my air ride system I would say. It all gets expensive.

i think that would be really cool, i might try it sometime when i get money for the doors. oh btw, who would put the lambo doors up with the windows rolled up?

I would when it's like 15 degrees out.

i have been running air for about 4 years now. 3 different set ups later i love it. definately get the 100 % duty cycle compressor, saves it shutting down when you over work the switches. also i agree with getting the compression fittings, your local hardware store will be your friend on that one. also get the accumulators it will soften up the ride when u encounter ruff roads. i went and got the competition valves because they last longer, they are also mounted on a manifold and simplifies installation. my kit is from aim industries, chasis tech. they have been baggin trucks for along time and their customer service is top notch. me personally it will be your personal call which u want to do. i love my air ride and will be ordering the doors soon as all the fibreglassing on the inside is conpleted. but air will give u the most satisfaction at shows and on the street.... no more tall curbs either :)
hope that helped.
oh yeah and from my reasearch, just because it costs more doesnt mean its better, just has better marketing....
