Koni Cartridge install 1G questions with pics

I need some help here/have a question...

I believe the same question was asked here but never resolved:

So I have read Vfaq about 10 times. I have my original (gr-2) housings disassembled and ready to go. Now, when I slide the Koni cartridge into the GR-2 housing, the bump located on the koni as referenced in the Vfaq catch on the inner lip of the housing.

However, this places the threaded bottom of the cartridge about and inch above the bottom of the housing, (again, as referenced in Vfaq).

So, my question is, since I don't want to ruin anything, do I thread the bolt in without the washer and such, as referenced in Vfaq to pull the cartridge further down? That would pull the protrusions past the lip in the housing. And If I am supposed to pull the cartridge down, how far do I go? Until the cartridge reaches bottom?

The instructions say to torque to 55ft lbs.

I guess what I am concerned about is that on one hand, the protrusions are supposed to be seated on the inner lip in the housing. Bat at the same time, vfaq is saying to thread the bolt to pull it past that lip in order to be able to thread the bolt with the washer(s).

Some advice would be much appreciated.

I would personally just use the bolt to pull it down. I also thought ive read or seen them installed without the washer, bolted to the car then with the weight of the car making them seat farther. Jack it up and take the bolt out install the washer and re torque to spec.

If the weight of the car pushes it further down, then yes, I would absolutely have to retorque the bolt because if the car weight pushes the cartridge further dow into the housing, it's going to push the bolt out, making the bolt pointless...

We shall see what happens I guess.

Instructions I have from RRE show 63ft/lbs. That should suck it down though.

I have heard 63, but the instructions enclosed with the cartridge say 55. Maybe I will hit a happy medium and do 59.

I think the main purpose is to suck down the strut. What I was sent was the full on instructions to make the strut assembly 1" shorter. With that the koni get knocked in and welded instead of bolted.

OK, so I torqued them down tonight and yes, it definitely pulls the cartridges to the bottom of the housing. Question answered I guess.
