well guys, i pull my head out and did head gasket/ arp studs/ waterpump and timing belt components and accidently pull the knock sensor wire still connect while pulling the head out. wire is still connect to the knock in the block and the other end came loose from the harness on the intake manifold bracket.

there's only one wire running the knock sensor right? which is the red wire.

the harness is a two wire connector. there was another wire about an inch long coming out of the harness too but that wire is cut and soder. so i guess i'm left the knock red wire that goes to the block.

i don't know where that extra inch of wire suppose to go. any suggestion on this?

i just open up the harness and reconnect the red wire with a plyer.

anything is welcome. thanks

Not to hijack but I have a question about the knock sensor too. I have a 95 Tsi. Its gettin a 64 short block. What do i do about the knock sensor?

OP: the knock sensor is one wire with shielding. The shielding is just pulledback and connected to ground. you will want to make sure this is hooked up.

WORPeclipse- my 6bolt 2.4 had the knock sensor hole already drilled and tapped. it just wasn't used

Sp1ke can you post a pic or do you have one? The only hole on my 7bolt 64 had a bolt in it is down in the balance shaft tunnel.

Ive dont some more research and the 7bolt 64 dont have a knock sensor is this going to be a prob with the 63t ecu?

but isn't there two wire coming out of the harness. one of them is for the knock and the other is cut and solder. the harness is on the back of the intake manifold bracket and i'm not sure where the other end of the harness leads to.

Since I am still noob status I can't post it as an attachment. PM your email to me and I will send you the schematic.

sorry guys for bring this back. just wanted to get it straight.

so, normally there's two wires black and white from chassis/ecu to a harness and connects to another harness that only lead one red wire to the knock sensor. am i correct?

if not, i have a short black wire coming out of the same harness as where the red wire is in. this harness is a two wire harness. seem like the short black wire coming out of harness is soder at the end of the wire that's not connected to anything. is it suppose to? where?

thanks

Sorry also for bringing back from the dead. But im also having the same problem/question.I noticed my car wasn't pulling as hard. so I checked my knock sensor and
Some how my knock sensor plug and plug from harness ripped of some where while drivin. Anyway I wanted to know how, if possible, to rewire it. My knock sensor is still bolted to block but there's only a single red wire and 2 wires on the ecu/harness which are black and white wire. Any input would ne greatly appreciated, thankss

Ya but there's only one wire(red) coming off the knock sensor and 2 wires(black, and white) off the harness. How can I rewire with only one wire off knock sensor and 2 off the harness?
