well i made a post a while ago saying that my knock sensor harness was melted together, and i wanted to replace the harness, but i never got around to it, anyways, i have my engine in and was hooking everything up, and noticed that the black wire had broken off right at the harness, so should i just eliminate the harness completely and solder the wires together? i dont plan on pulling my engine for at least another year haha, but i just figured i would make sure that it would be ok before i do it. when i was pulling the engine, i just cut the wires a few inches from the harness so i could get the engine out and worry about that later, so then i soldered it back together a few weeks ago. when i pull the engine again i spose i can just unscrew the knock sensor out of the block so i dont have to keep cutting wires all the time.. thanks! :dsm:

You can buy connectors at Radio Shack for a few bucks, I think they even have weatherproof stuff. Aside from that, you should be fine with the solder, just protect the bare solder joints with a good RTV silicone or similar.

alright, yeah i just soldered them together, black to black, red to white i believe the insulator WAS, then just used electrical tape to cover each wire individually, then taped the 2 as a whole, then used wire loom around them and taped that shut, and tucked it away. I was thinking about getting a male and female harness and doing it that way, but this will be temporary until i need a new knock sensor.
