Knock sensor problem

Hi, I'm having a problem with my knock sensor. I'm getting 9 counts of knock on my logger. I've replaced the sensor for a new one. Still the same problem. I've got 0 knock at idle, but when I rev the engine past 1000rpm the logger is showing 9 counts knock. The DTC code is 31, after erasing the dtc it comes back again. I'ts a 1G 1990 engine b.t.w in a non DSM car.

A little bit. The noise isn't very loud.

I just posted a thread in this forum w the same problem.

I added some Lucas Oil Treatment and some High Mileage Quaker State and the Knock sensor stopped picking up as much of the lifter tick. (and quit retarding my timing to -3)

Thats probably the cheapest and easies way to find out if that Phantom Knock is coming from your lifter(s).

I'm having the same problem. 9 counts of knock when you tap the throttle. CEL #31 clear code and it comes right back Swapped sensors and checked all wiring still Anyone have any help???

Check your connectors on your ECU. I pulled the connectors off and reinstalled them, that did it for me! Problem solved i'm driving a few month's now without any problems.

Yup, I don't know exactly what I did but I just wiggled and checked all connections. Now it works just fine.
