Kit or Custom?

Yes, but do Bowling and Grippo personally offer support for it? No. That's what I meant. Of course there's support available through other forums and such. I never said it was impossible to get this thing up and running, nor did I say there was a lack of experts available to help with the set up. I simply said the developers don't offer vehicle specific support - in most cases simply because these are universal kits.

Secondly, I realize how Megasquirt was initially designed, but today, through their various upgrades (I'm sure you now this, I'm just reiterating), it can be run as a complete stand alone.

NO your right B&G dont offer any support to my knowledge. At the same time though you have to remember and i am sure you know this but the SAFC does not offer any support either. WE are the support.

I see a lot of people viewing MS as a complicated and experimental item here. Its not and i hope to get more people interested and informed. THE 8 injector setup and MS are the way to go if you are serious. The SAFC and SFMU combo are not only prehistoric but they dont work on all cars. MY 97 is one of them.

I thought it would be interestign to get a subforum added for MS and standalones but then again the main part of the forum already has this. Would 2GNT'ers really look in there for info?

Terry

I agree with you completely. MS is the way to go if your serious, and I whole-heartedly believe in all of the expert knowledge out there on the subject. Once I get to that stage in my own car's development, I know I won't have many problems because of both Tuners and 2GNT.

A sub-forum is actually a good idea, I think. It could be the NT counterpart to the "Advanced Tuning" forum for the 4G63 guys here on Tuners.

riot riot riot :spam:

go squirt :rocks:

I for one would love to run a MSnS on my car, but I have no money at the moment to spend. But if you have the money, I would go with the MSnS. And yes, custom is definitely the way to go if you want the best of everything. If you order a kit, you will just end up replacing most of it anyways. And yes, my aim was to make everything for the cheapest possible, and I will no doubtingly replace most if not all of the stuff I have. But I'll be replacing stuff that I didnt spend $3,000 on

Dont forget to also budget for building up your transmission.

My stock clutch went after about a year of easy driving on 8psi. So I replaced that with a stage 3 from SPEC.

After I installed a Portfueler and upped the boost to 15.

The one wheel spinning when you get on it not only slows you down but could tear out a spider gear,

So now I have on order, a limited slip differential, neon tranny, and stage 2 axles from www.driveshaftshop.com

It just never ever ends.

it never ends is right...so happy it's tax return season :dsm:

Would 8 injectors run through MS be able to be run like with the EIC? with four running for idle and otherwise, then the other four kick back in when they are needed? Or would I have to continually run all 8 but on idle they would be putting out smaller amounts of fuel?

This topic has come up on MSEFI.com. You can run the MS like an Extra Injector Controller. The advantage is the MS has temperature compensation. You would need to make the VE table all "1" in the bins pre boost. The MS does not understand the value "0"

Terry

alright so basically MS would only control the secondary injectors, and the stock ECU would still control the primary injectors?

I'll go look around MSEFI.com now

Nevermind my last question, Ive been browsing through MSEFI.com and found a thread about staged injection, and I assume this is probably what you were talking about... Now alot of the things they mention are still a little over my head with the mapping and sorts, but seems like it would be what I was looking to do

For anyone wondering this is the link to the thread I'm talking about: http://www.msefi.com/viewtopic.php?...&start=0&sid=7f8b4be0909a66a510068b124b742ca9
