Killed a 3000GT tonite..but have a ?..im N/T sooo..

this dude was goin balls to the wall too...full on race from a dig to bout 60 mph..won by bout a car, car and a half....id say it was a 1994 or earlier 3000GT, couldnt tell of any mods but im N/T and completely stock...i did drive it like a champ tho i must say but are the GT's really that slow? or was he a shittttttttttty driver

I'd say he was probably a shitty driver cuz he has a nice v6. So you got him on that but there is no way in hell he had a twin turbo 3000 gt it was proabaly v6 nt cuz the twin turbos push about 320 I think, no way could a none boosted 2.0 ever beat that.

I dont know... I think i smell a hint of bs. Me and my dad drove a 3000gt and i know for sure that it is 8 times faster than my n/t. Dad threw it into second and the car almost turned sideways b/c it had so much power and it was only a n/t 3000gt. Could just be that my dad has been driving for over 40 years but i am still gonna call bs.

dude its not BS i even had my g/f in the car..why would i waste time to post this when i could get flamed because i dont even know how fast the 3000gt's are...wat if it were impossible to beat a 3000gt?? then it wouldnt make sense.....but i looked up the specs on a 94 base model and its 222 hp but like 3,400 lbs....pretty heavy...wat made the kill even sweeter was i wasnt lookin for a race last nite...i was just cruisin and this asshole cut off like 10 ppl just to get up to where i was and he sat there at the light revin it like crazy...i swear to u the first thing i told my g/f was "oh shit im gonna get stomped".."oh well ill try it"....she was laughing sooooooo hard at him at the next light...she waved to him and hes just kinda looked over and looked away real quick...poor guy

well my father has a 3000GT N/A and a 3000GT VR-4(TT).. you raced a younger 3000GT with less then 222 HP. i believe the 95+ lost about 30HP. the 90-94 has 222. I have driven the non turbo and have whooped n/a eclipses that had intake and exhaust.. the 3000GT N/A being completely stock.. as for the vr-4... its got 700hp and my dad wont let me touch the damn thing... 3000GTs are VERY heavy.. wow i can't beleive no one has noticed this yet.......IT WAS A 3000GY SOHC!!!! , those are the slowest of the 3000GT's and yes even I HAVE BEATEN ONE long ago (i had i/h/e/udp/hi-flow cat). He was stock except an intake.....Those cars take the slowest forms of all the 3000GT's.....the vr4 is the heaviest but it has awd n twin turbo's so obviously you would get owned....the 3000GT DOHC would eat a stock n/t alive (those run high 14 low 15 stock) but you raced the the sohc which is the slowest of them all....Nice kill tho, i wouldn't spread the word that it was the dohc or the vr4 cuz you will be 1) flamed 2) a vr4 owner will race you & he will OWN you...

i guess it is possible.I've driven a 92 3000gt sohc and the damm thing was still alot faster then our n/t.the thing chirped in 2nd and 3rd.so yeah if he gets exited and just stays spinning at the light then yeah you could still beat him.

yea i think thats the thing...i got a better launch..only chirped a bit...perfect shifts at 6500...it was fun even if he was SOHC...im not sayin it was VR-4 at all..like i said even b4 i raced him i knew i was gonna get my ass eatin alive, just kinda suprising

Hi, new to the forums, Actually I just bought my son a 95 NT Eclipse GS, this is going to be his account on here. The 3000GT didn't come with an SOHC until 97. All models prior to 97 had a DOHC engine. Stealths came with a DOHC except for the base model which had a SOHC. The SOHC engines had 164 HP in the Stealths and 161 in the 97+ 3000GT. Only the base 3000Gt in 97+ had the SOHC, the others had DOHC engines. Nice kill by the way.

To answer your question "are they really that slow" I have a 95 NA DOHC and yeah they're heavy but still quick. The NA 3000GT would walk a N/T Eclipse if it's running right and the driver is worth a crap.

Man, you guys don't know anything about other cars. 3000GTs came in three trims; VR4, SL and base. VR4 has 300 hp on 91-93 cars and 320 in 94-99. SL had 222, and the base had 167. I imagine the guy you raced probably had a base, which has about the same hp and weight as a N/T DSM, so it is perfectly resonable to imagine that you could've beat him.

Try again, the 3000GT did not come with an SOHC until 97. 91-96 Base models came with a 222HP DOHC. Link below.

yea surf thrasher is right...the sohc wasnt until later..i was lookin at that site too.....it def was 94 or earlier...95 was the newer body style right?....i almost got a 97 3000GT over the eclipse when i was car shoppin but they all seemed to have high miliage around here..i absolutely love those cars

The whole rear bumper is different, and the lights are a bit different, but kind of the same, the center piece between the lights is usually the same color as the car on the second gens, where the first gens have a reflector type center piece.

just because you chirp you tires don't mean your moving faster. it just sounds and looks good. i think it is possible that he beat it. alot of people do not know how to launch rwd cars correctly, especially on the streets. your car is not moving at it's full potential if the tires are smoking. I've seen so many 350z's get whippied by hatches and other car with far less power. but with the right driver in a rwd, it's a different story.

those things are not fast at all. my friend has a 93 DOHC NA. its not a VR-4, and he barely pulls on me. i have Intake, exaust, UDP and 75 shot of zex. he has exaust. well a couple nights ago, i was going to show him my nitrous set up. so he decided he was going to try and race me. well, i was unaware that 800psi was empty, so i hit the nitrous, got no boost from it, and he slowly pulled on me. man was i pissed. but they are heavy, and although he has 50+ hp on me he barely pulls on me. i believe he beat him. nice kill.

Not impossible to get sideways, just very difficult ... I get sideways Autoxing ... but on stock tire pressure it would take a person very accustomed to drifting cars to get the backend out ...
