New here from Texas. Just got (in trade) a 95 gst. Hopefully will be admirable before too long. All I know so far, Garrett M10 turbo (good? bad? will work for now?) and running about 12 pounds boost. Engine has red valve cover (JDM from what I have found), but nothing better or worse. No clue yet on injectors, a/f ratio, etc. ECU tuner program needed?, or won't matter yet? I'm a mechanic but I just keep them running, never modded anything. Hopefully all turns out well!!:thumb:

from the first picture it looks like your upper radiator hose isn't connected? dunno if you did that or what. but there is a hose that goes from the intake pipe where that white elbow is sticking out to the blowoff valve. you have to order the adapter for that bov separately (i had to do it also) to recirculate it like it's supposed to be -nods- not sure what's going on with the battery but it looks a little crazy up there too. other than that, good lookin car. how's it run?

Upgrade paths?? Sorry, rookie status as of now. Getting a battery tie down tomorrow, just put a new radiator yesterday. It idles a little rough but not too bad. Is 12 pounds about right for that turbo, or should it be more? I'll check on that recirculation adapter tomorrow also. And any thoughts on what I should buy first. A/f gauge, plugs and basic tune items, or whatever. $5 or $100 I of course think I HAVE to buy something to get started but don't know what would be the MOST important item to buy first, etc. Supposedly was rebuilt around 10,000 miles ago, but, who knows. I'll check compression, injector identification, fuel pressure, and a couple other things tomorrow when I get back to work. Do have a question on some vacuum lines. Line goes from intake (I think, top back of engine) to bov, and teed into the solenoid for the waste gate. (hope that makes sense) That nipple was open and guy said it needs that pressure line so I don't push too much boost. The air inlet tube (after the maf sensor) to the engine had a small nipple that i just plugged.

Sorry I did forget that it has a newer intercooler installed with 3" hard piping and half a$$ 3" exhaust (about 50-75% of it anyway)

from what i understand... there should not be anything tee'd off of the bov. there should be a line going from the intake to the bov, then the bov should be recirculated to the intake (right where that white elbow is). i'd probably start with a tune up. plugs, wires (yours look to be ok, check for burn spots and such), oil change blah blah blah. and there are "upgrade paths" links here on the forum... i'm gonna have to go find it and get the link for ya if you want, or you can just search "upgrade paths" and it should take ya right to where ya want to be. i've personally never heard of a "Garrett M10" turbo so i couldn't tell you what it's limits are and what you need to support it. but yeah... i'd start with basic stuff and work from there.

I wasn't sure about the tee, but where can I run a vacuum to the wastegate solenoid from. I'm pretty sure that's what it is. It's under the air inlet tube and has one line from it to the turbo actuator and the other I was pretty sure needs a vacuum or pressure source so it doesn't "over boost". I'll do some plugs tomorrow, wires look pretty good. Should I start with a air/fuel gauge as priority? Does it have to be wideband? Or is it a waste of money to start. I'll check mitchell for all vacuum routing and make sure it's right also. Thanks for everyone's help! any other thoughts, suggestions I'm open. Think it's Garrett m10 .48 in and .49 out. Looks like it's stock from a different car maybe? Any thought on what fuel pressure and injectors I need? And "tuning" what do I need (programmer, chip, ???)?

if i recall correctly... the two lines coming off the little solenoid critter go to the intake and the wastegate actuator. don't quote me on that though. as far as tuning, most of the folks on here play with ECMLink i believe. as far as gauges... i'm getting a new boost gauge and new oil pressure gauge since the consensus is that the factory ones are garbage :) (that and the oil pressure gauge on the hubby's gst crapped itself) for injectors, i have no answers LOL. i suppose if you're going to get a/f gauge then you might as well get a wideband. most accurate i believe.

Edit: found it!! http://www.dsmtuners.com/tech.html bookmark it! save it! love it! LOL

ok thats how I had the "solenoid" hooked up and someone (friend of a friend) said he thought it was wrong. I'll change it back. Thanks for the links! Good info.:thumb: I think I know someone with a boost leak tester so I'll check on that too. Anyone think I should look for a 16g turbo? I just have no idea about this one that's on it, other than I know it's not the original.
