Just some more soldering.

So today, day before mother's day. I went over to my grandma's place where my car is located to work on my car some more and celebrate mother's day early.

Pretty much finished my interior wiring and now I'm working on soldering some of the engine wiring.

Was trying to solder some 14 gauge wire and... my soldering iron just couldn't handle it It just couldn't heat the wire up quickly and now it just looks like poop. That's what I get for trying to use soldering pencil to heat up a large wire. Should have known a soldering gun is a better tool for this job.

So I order a Weller d550pk soldering gun from amazon and called it a day.

Yeah, with the proper setup you will be able to blaze through that soldering. The real headache is going through all the wires, deciding what you need to lose, what need's to be fixed, etc.

I'm looking forward to starting on my harness, it'll look better than factory when it's all done!

One great tip I use when soldering larger or high temp wires is to add a little solder to the tip of iron WHILE it is touching the wire. This little bit of melted solder will transfer the heat to the wire much quicker and result in a nice reliable joint. I use a pencil type all the time on 14ga high temp nickle plated wire at work. The little blob of solder always does the trick.

This will come in handy on some of the stuff a gun is too bulky to reach.

^I haven't gone through my harness and what to eliminate, for now my priority is to get it started and running and to break the car in. I could imagine the hassle of eliminating wires and it would be time consuming.

Yeah I do put solder on my tip. The problem is that its three 14 gauge wires that I am trying to solder together for my slim fans. It would definitely work fine for one on one wiring

I would just use a crimp connector. soldering 3 14 gauge wires is a little much mane... the power will flow fine with just a crimp connector.
