Just put the motor back together and its running rich like junk

Well i just got done putting the head on the car and assembling it all back together. I set the timing and the car starts then sputters and dies. I have got the car to the point where it will idle very rough at about 500 and if i rev it it will go up but it sounds like crap and it is also running VERY rich. What could it be, coolant temp sensor? knock sensor? i really dont know. I really need help in figuring this out as i need this car to work within the next week for my summer courses at school or rather so i can get there\.

edit-- i think it could be the knock sensor because ive read some posts where people have the same probs as me and the ecu put the code out for knock sensor. o and btw im gonna try to pull codes tomorrow

My car ran like that once. it was because one of the intercooler pipe connections wasn't sealed, it could be from any air leak. boost leak check

i would go over and check your timing first....you have no fuel upgrades so that would be were i would start....just in case, since youve been running rich, check you oil and make sure it does not smell like gas..if it does change it

also a vacume leak could cause the rough exceleration and the hard idel...listen for a hissing sound if it is a vacume leak

Agreed with what was said above...check for boost leaks.

Are you sure the timing is correct?
