Please don't. Lots of car owners with valuable parts would rather others don't post how-to break in and steal stuff threads. I know that's not your intention, but not everyone in this world is as nice and well-intended as you.

I can get into my car with a 9-iron without breaking a thing, but I'd never tell you how. ;)

haha how would that work :hmm:, and ya didnt mean it to be how to break into our cars, 2g is different, and you would haft to own a dsm usually to know about that strip that changes all those funny colors i just meant it as a helpfull hint since everyone will eventually lock there keys in there car:(

my keys got locked in my talon about a month ago and I came here actually to see what to do.
I really doubt a car theif is learning something they don't already know.
Not to mention for a car theif to open ANY car it's break window, open. ROFL
Not some long drawn out attention getting maneuver.

Actually it was easier for me to just pry back the window and stick a rod down inside and flip the switch. No removing door panel or anything afterward.

Coat hanger for those willing to spend 10 minutes trying to unlock it. I didn't see the "how to" post but that info is on the web somewhere. It does require a user login to see the lockpicking/break-in forums around.
Most cars are common sense. Where is the hand latch inside the car? Which way does it move to open the door? If you can't figure out those two points, then don't bother trashing your electrics trying to open it yourself.

HIDEAKEY somewhere.

My power locks don't work. :D

You can honk on that button all day long but it will get you nowhere.

I wasn't insinuating that posting this stuff here would lead to everyone's cars getting stolen, or that it would stop an actual criminal. Truth be told, most thieves couldn't care less if your door handles work. If they're breaking the law, they'll break damn near anything else to save time getting away with it.

i tried the coat hanger but that didnt work, tried a rod but but that didnt work, couldnt get the angle right to push the lock tab, and this method seriously took 3 mins to get it unlocked and 5 to reinstall the bar, and it didnt break anything, or scratch anything, where as a coat hanger can tear up your weather stripping, and a bar through the door can bend your door if you pull to hard, or can scratch paint, and ya who knows what else, this method can also work with a long screw driver.

I have found the best way is to take two coat hangars and twist them together. Insert a Wedge into the space in between where the door frame meets the roof. BE sure to put a hook on one end on the hangar. Insert hangar into gap and guide it to the trunk release. Hook the arm for the trunk release. MOST IMPORTANT After hooking take wedge out and re wedge while guiding the hangar toward the rear of the car when wedge is in closer to rear of door frame to roof go ahead and pull back toward the rear of the car with the coat hangar and click trunk opens ever time. On most electronic locks you can also melt a hole in a tennis ball the size of the cylinder hole. Press the ball into the key hole and pimp slap the ball a few times and it opens right up. This wont work on every car but I have done it on quite a few including mine. DO NOT USE THIS FOR THE WRONG REASONS PLEASE. :nono:

ya that method works too, but its kinda hard to guide hangers through the door jams in our cars because of how they seat, like the where the roof meets the door its rolled and it creates like a weird (0 curve you haft to guide through

Well I had this problem and a cop happened to be there. He took some wooden wedges and wedged the top back corner of the door open and used a long rod to unlock the door. The door flexes pretty good. Didn't take very long.

Haha I used to open mine with a fishing rod.

"he stripping that often goes from black to shiny metal to rust LOL." - So true.

Go thru that good for nothing sunroof

Hey hey hey man, I love my sunroof!

And guys, thanks for all the help. I have a story of my own to share :p I went out to get ice cream with my little sister (Hardcore, right?) and as I was walking inside, I was like "Where are my keys?!" and instantly knew I forget them in the car. I immediately came here and started looking around, then went out with a leatherman and a coat hanger. I was about to give up when the neighborhood thug came around. He's perfectly nice to me, and I mentioned I locked my keys in the car. Fearing he'd smash the window and take it, I kept trying. In the dark (Like 10pm) and about 10 degrees..... It took me like 20 minutes and 2 hangers (I got one of them stuck behind the handle) and finally managed to loop it over the handle. At first I almost got the lock switch open, but then I realized my driver's side door doesn't have a handle, so that would've been useless. I was about to jump for joy when I heard the door click and pop open. I was a little worried that I was standing outside between a BMW and a Mercedes with a flashlight and coat hanger for like 20 minutes without anyone coming out to see what was happening, or someone calling the cops. Plus I was wearing one of those oversized flannel jackets that have the sweatshirt lining (Not to be offensive, but the kind you always see day laborers wearing) and just looking like a bum in general. So after I finally got in I went out for a midnight drive and had a great time. Thanks DSMTuners for teaching me how to break into my car!

Long story short

-Wire hanger straightened out with a small loop at the end
-Stuck between weather stripping and window where the door closes (Not the hinge side)
-Loop over handle
-Slowly but firmly pull back to open the door without the hanger slipping off the handle
-Get in car, and celebrate

Well I had this problem and a cop happened to be there. He took some wooden wedges and wedged the top back corner of the door open and used a long rod to unlock the door. The door flexes pretty good. Didn't take very long.

Another popular method for tow services is an inflatable pouch they wedge between the door and frame, then inflate until there's enough gap to unlock the door.

Agree with the people saying to aim for the trunk latch. Takes me like a minute to get it open.

I have also heard that making a copy of your key on an old credit card will work as a 1 time use key. Just enough rigidity to unlock the door before it bends and tears. plus its thin enough to keep a couple of them in your walled. Never tried it though.

I have though about finding a way to rig up a lock override. Some sort of hinge thats added on to the existing lock with a neodymium magnet inside the door. When you hold up another magnet to the outside of the door, they are attracted and when the inside magnet is moved by the attraction to the outside one, it pulls the lock open. figuring that one out has been on my to do list for like a year now.
