Just had my motor rebuilt, but something seems to be missing

I picked up a picture of what was missing off the galleries, can anyone tell me what it is, and what its used for? -- Its the grey circle right under the valve cover

It is the CAS (cam angle sensor).

They are in a different place on the 95-96 models. Look behind your cam gears.

should there be anything there? because im looking at it, and its just open right there, but i cant figure out whats in there. and to clarify to anyone, i do have a 95/96

The 95-96 have a sort of blockoff plate there.

Look at your cam gears and see if there is anything positioned behind them.

ah kay thanks! I cant seem to find the block off plate, and my cam sensor is indeed near my cams, can i leave it up, or must that be sealed?

It needs to be "blocked off".

Either with a 97-99 CAS (by doing the proper conversion) or with a plate.

ah k heading to the machine shop to see if they have the plate still, ifnot will any plate do?

It is a part #. I would give your local Mitsu dealership a call and ask for it. Then buy it from Conicelli. They are the best dealership for parts around.

Or try a local Junk yard if you have too. I just don't think you can use a random plate. It has a certian design to keep a good seal for you valve cover-to-head.

If you sent in your engine with this part and it is missing upon return, I would get them to buy the new part you now are missing. Don't just let them get away with it.
