Ok so last night I went over to the drag strip to run my car, second time I had ever been there, first time I ever ran. So any way I was pulling some awful times and I just could not get out of the 16's. My best time was [email protected]. I know this is horrible, I should be running at least high 15's. My car is bone stock and needs an oil change like 2 weeks ago. My buddy even ran the car and he said it wasn't pulling right, he ran a 17@85mph. Now his trap was better than all mine, mine were all 84. There was another stock DSM there and he was running like way better, 15's, but I never got a chance to talk to him. Everyone said my car isn't running right and to do the free mods, but I want to see what these things do bone stock b4 I do any mods at all.
My launches we all power brake and O/D was off.
So my question(s) is (are):
-What can I do to fix this?
-Will an oil change make a 1 sec difference?? Or any difference at all
All suggestions on what to tune up and how to improve my driving are welcomed, but please be gentle

:dsm: :talon: :laser: BTW: It must have been DSM night or something b/c we were out in force repersenting at Dragway 42, are group had like 3 and then there had to be atleast 15 others I saw. :thumb: Was anyone there??

if your oil is REAL old, it could harm your performance. I know of one guy who's car wasn't pulling like it should. He hadn't changed the oil in a real long time, it was causing a real loud tick, which in turn I guess was triggering the knock sensor and his timing was getting pulled real bad. Said it got so bad that he was sometimes struggling just to keep up with highway traffic and damn near wot. So he ended up puttin some seafoam in the oil, running it for a little bit to clean it all out. Then changing the oil. Problem was fixed!

Change the oil. I dont understand why people dont take very good care of there car, yet want it to be good to them. Change the oil and make sure it si in top running condition before you do anything to make it faster. Once that is done then go out and see what it runs.

So True.

*waits on TurboBird's new thread*
My car broke down at the track... still didn't change the oil

No, I change my oil about ever 2500 and add stablerizer, so it is ok for atleast another 500-700, but I am anal about this car and keeping it clean and running good. I t wasn't running good when I got it, but i did some work and fixed it. Now I want to make sure the problems from the past don't come back. Trust me I take real good care of this car.
