Should there be something here

Hey all, I just got my TSI AWD about a month ago, and I was just admiring my engine when I noticed this. In the pic it is the hole on the throttle body, it looks like it should have something on it, but mine doesnt. Can any one put my worries to rest?

That is the biss screw and it is supposed to have a rubber plug on top of it. They usually harden and fall out. I dont have mine and dont have any problems. You can get a ne plug from the dealer or you can put silicone over it and be done with it.

Agreed. Base idle set screw. Screwing it in/out adjusts the idle speed.

Before loading it with silicone, put a shot of WD-40 in there and smear it around with a Q-tip. It'll become clear why the next time you need to access that screw.

I dont have the rubber plug, whats the big deal? Why not just leave it exposed like that?

Because I have seen them back out and disappear. Then you have to buy the screw, o-ring and plug.

^^^ The plug keeps out that much more grit, helps prevent the BISS from changing adjustment, and keeps it in.
