Ok, So for those of you that read my other threads on my problem with my old tcase being stuckl on output shaft... we are talking the the new(to me) transfer case I just purchased. It has been sitting on my floor for a while, since I can't get my old one off and today was really cold out or I was just being lazy, but I decided to stay in today!:thumb:Lazy me!:D

Anyways I decided to take a look see in this new tcase, since this is the first time I've ever been near a transfer case. So I took apart the end that connect with the output rod into the transmission, all hell broke loose when I saw what was waiting for me on the inside. the smaller set of bearings on the gear set*(I have no idea whats thats called :S) fell out as soon as I pull it out. After taking off the set of bearings I notice a crack and a chip out of the metal part?:banghead::ohdamn: I just hope these peices arent f*cked royally in my old tcase so maybe I can just swap them.Hopefully... Anyways I just wanted to post this and see what you guys think about this... I Have some picture I can try to take more if you guys need it.

That bearing is definitly shot.Just get the #'s off of it and get a new one.Put the new one in the oven to expand it a little and slide it on. It's pretty easy and will save you money in the long run to learn to do it yourself.

That transfer case wouldn't have lasted very long in your car looks like your gonna need another one.

Edit: I see now your only going to need a bearing I couldnt tell at first that the peice with the cunk out of it was part of the bearing. Relpace and re-seal

From the pictures, it`s obvious that the bearings & bearing races are wasted. I had a 2G t-case apart a couple years ago, it`s a pretty simple operation to dis-assemble & re-assemble. I forget if the bearings are pressed onto the shafts (I think they are). I would get all new bearings & seals for it & get a local parts supplier with a press to install the bearings . . . :talon:

If you`re talking about the crack in the last picture, that`s the inner bearing race that will come with the new bearing. you can carefully tap it off the shaft or very carefully cut it off. The new one will probably have to be pressed on though . . .:talon:

Hey, Thanks man. I was unsure about that but as soon as you answered I went and tapped it off. Came off no problemo, although it looks to me like someone had already cut one off. This pis is what was under the inner bearing race(both sides).

Don't even think of using damaged or worn parts in the x-fer case! The parts in your pic are shot to hell. From the looks of it they were run dry of oil and failed. Inspect the parts in your other case and see if you can interchange them.

If those parts in your 'rebuilt' case fail at speed you could lock up all four tires and skid out of control. That's what the nationwide x-fer case recall was for. Don't duplicate it.

Did you ever get that shaft out of your transmisson? And if so, best bet is order a new bearing / race from Dilawri Mitsubishi (talk to kevin) and possibly reuse the shaft from your old t-case.

If worst comes to worst man, Call Myself (Andy) or Jon @ DSM Graveyard, Im sure we have some laying around or we can get you the bearings or whatever else you need. Let me know. 1-269-226-4G63

Uhh is this out of the transfer case because when I popped it open this flung out???? In my manual it doesn't show that this is anything? It's the little black plastic thing I'm holding!

I don't have my manual in front of me but that's for oil transfer. It goes into the passageway above the gears and lets splashed oil run down it to the bearings in the back. If I can get to my manual later I'll look it up for you.
