So today my 95 Talon TSI AWD decided to be nice to me and #### up 20 miles from home. I doing about 45mph or so and I heard like a clunk and a thud. Immediately I pushed in the clutch and coasted the car and stopped it. Got out checked everything and saw some vapor coming out near the t-case. Went to get back in the car to take off, and the car wouldn't go anywhere. You could feel that the engine was pulling and the front wheels wanted to go, but the back wheels were locked up. Unfortunately, the tow truck had to drag it up, drive shaft wasn't spinning and back wheels were locked in place, they only budged 2-3 inches back and forth.

Sounds like a T-case right? I've heard there's a recall on these, is it still in effect? I heard due to inadequate lubrication, they seize. 5sp manual w/ 100k.

its only like 3 bolts that hold it on. take it off and see if it solves your problem. could be the tranny tcase of rear dif. if you dont want to take the tcase off, disconnect the driveshaft and see if the rears move. each should only take like 20 min each to test
