Ok, so I just got done changing my timing belt, balance belt, and alternator belt (which are all aligned correctly) and I have a problem. I went and tried to start the car. And it turns over very weakly (a lot weaker than it did before the belt change). I was turning it over for around 1-3 seconds and I've heard my exhaust backfire. Now, I don't really want to try and see if it starts up since I'm affraid I'll mess something up:mad: . I also cleaned my lifters prior to the belt change, but I doubt this has anything to do with the problem. ### help me out guys if you know what could be wrong:( .

Did you check your timing???? 100%??? I had similar problems when I did my TB its really hard to see. Make sure your cams line up when the crank is lined up too with the Pump.

Dont be suprised if its not lined up. I just had mine done and for some odd reason the timing marks arent lined up and now it wont start. Timing must be hard on these cars. Chances are something ###### wrong and its no longer in time :(

Since you've replaced T-belt and BS belt, you had to take crank timing plate off (plate that is sandwiched between T-belt and BS belt sprokets on the crank, with a timing alignment notch). Make sure you didn't put it back on reversed. If it's your first DSM t-belt job, then it's a fairly common mistake. Reversing that plate moves your timing marker about 20* off and won't let motor run.

Sorry, but I'm not really sure what you're talking about. Do you got a pic of that thing? I'm pretty sure I did everything correctly.

I took all covers off and started the car without the alternator belt and steering belt. IT WORKED FINE!!! wtf???

Now I had another question, there is some kind of marks on the lower timing belt cover that sais "BTDC, 10, I, T. Is the crankshaft pulley supposed to be alligned in a certain way on one of these????

Before Top Dead Center. T is Top Dead Center. It's for your timing light to set the CAS for proper timing. That's a whole thread in itself.

If everything is perfect and you are absolutely sure, I'd check my timing, check for plug wires on wrong coils, Put a timing light on #1 and crank it over. Do the marks come up? If not, find out the reason why. Double check everything.

Good Luck
