just bought a 97 gst with 59k miles on it yesterday and I had some questions.
When I drove it back home (53 miles) I've noticed that the clutch pedal could only be pressed slightly. It couldn't be moved a lot. Then I've tried to slightly move it back with my hand (assuming that it's a sign of crankwalk that I heard about) but I couldn't move it back anymore than it already was. Today, when I tried pressing the clutch it seemed to work ok (the clutch seems like it can be pressed more than yesterday), like on any other manual car. And also, whenever I press the clutch all the way I can hear something.
Am I experiencing crankwalk???
And the car also makes a clicking noise from time to time which seems to dissapear after a while and then reapear.

I've looked up on the SEARCH OPTION "CRANKWALK" and I realized that when you get crankwalk the clutch tends to make some noises. Is this what's going on with my car?
I hope you understand what I'm saying. I need some responds asap plz.

And to all the mods: srry for bumping my last thread but I really need some help. I'm worried.

Take a left hand turn with the clutch pressed in, let go of the clutch while turning and if it sticks to the floor that is one sign of crankwalk.

I just took a drive in the car, making a couple right turns. The clutch didn't seem to stick. When I got back home and parked it into the driveway I pressed the clutch in neutral and that noise seemed to be coming from the custom boost gauge on the left side.

yeah, multiple right turns. But that was before you replied to the thread. I just went outside again and made a couple of left turns. Turned left pressing the clutch and putting it into neutral. Nope clutch didn't stick. Then (on another left turn) I put it from neutral into 1st and again, no problems with the clutch sticking. :D

You should check for more stuff, just because you dont have this doesnt meant you dont have CW (or anything for that matter)

you car is making a clunk clunk .. obviously something is wrong. Keep checking for both CW and if it doesnt happen to be that, find out how to fix it :)

Multiple right turns? I said to turn left.

ROFL ROFL sorry when I read that it made me crack up.

as far as the left turn clutch thing, its really noticable. my clutch used to stick like crazy. but then again my crank shaft could be pushed and pulled back and forth in the block

sounds more like you have a clutch problem

well, the previous owner Did replace the clutch 2000 miles ago with a new stock one. Possibly he did something wrong?

Anyways.....about the ticking noise. It starts after like 1min of turning the car on. It goes away after like 5mins and then appears again later..........lifter tick??????

yeah it's coming from the head. It starts off being quiet and then gets louder (but it isn't very loud).

Tell me, is lifter tick easy or hard to fix?

Try changing to a heavier weight oil

Not sure how you compair CW with lifter-tick. CW is over-rated, and if it happens it happens.

Hmm. If your clutch WORKS like it should - then I don't see the problem.

A rapid ticking noise - which comes and goes (Mostly when ya dun have alot of oil in the top of your valve area I guess.) causes it - it almost sounds electrical. When I had my 2G I had lifter-tick REAL bad until I changed to mobil 1 oil and a mit oil filter. 1G doesn't seem to get any lifter-tick for me. (Watch it start now when I go outside.)

You just got the car. Change the oil, flush the rad... check your belts - timing and all.

I am guessing you inspected the car closely before buying it right? OMG

Of course......The previous owner had the oil changed 300 miles ago (valvoline synthetic). The car doesn't leak any oil and I didn't notice any oil around the valve area.
