Hey guys, I just bought a 96 RS. I plan to mod somewhat, but nothing extreme. I want to know what maintenance I should take care of first other than the usual belts and gaskets. Anything majorly important I should take care of? Also the car has "venom" brand decals on it though there is not anything visible to me that is "venom". I know they deal with fuel delivery mainly so was wondering where/what I should check to see what's actually in there if anything at all. Thanks.

change all your belts first then move on to oil and brakes. It will give you a good start for your eclipse

That exactly what i was going to say gotta make sure your timing components are all gravy, but the good thing about the NT motors are that they are plentiful. So if money allows (275-375 at your local junk yard) get another engine and build it from floor up and just keep your engine using as an everyday driver for the time being.

yes, timing and related components would be the first thing. While your at it, the valve stem seals wouldnt be a bad idea since the start to leak oil around 80K. Then motor oil and filter, plugs and wires, fuel filter check brake pads/rotors/shoes/drums. Air filter change/cleaning. Change out the transmission fluid and filter if auto, manual just the fluid (ATF +4). You can also do a leakdown test to make sure you arent getting any leaks anywhere and to check the overall health of the engine. I hope this helps out a bit.:hellyeah:

Thanks a lot guys. This really helps. I'm gonna start tearing into her to see what the overall situation is lookin like. The motor look clean on the outside just the usual stains and such for a 143k engine. Another quick question for u guys kin of off this topic but, I have zeal coilovers on it. They came with the car and I wanna adjust the height but I don't have the spanner wrench. Is there another common tool I could use? I should I try to find one online or something? Thanks guys.
