My engine in my 1998 eclipse gsx tooka dirt nap.

I bought an engine from jdmaddiction on ebay, and I am running into some install issues.

can someone please help.

1) quite a few wires have different ends, does anyone have a JDM wiring diagram ?

2) The engine I bought was listed as a drop in for 95-99 eclipses. if so, why does it not have the cam sensor on the passenger side of the engine?

3) The turbos are different

please, anyone give me a hand here....

It has the same compressor outlet elbow mine did. and it was a 1g gvr4

mabye.... though it looks like that elbow is going to go straight out the top of the hood, LOL.

that exh manifold doenst look 1g to me, evoIII lookin'ish

What doesn't add up? The 4G63's in Japan used a 13g on their auto cars just like they did here. What's so confusing? I bought a JDM motor for my swap and it had a flex-plate and a 13g on it.

What year was your JDM engine? 6 bolt, 7 bolt?

GVR4592, not sure exactly what year, but it was a 6-bolt. As I said, it came with a 13g and and a flexplate. Obviously, came of a automatic.

Yeah that's what I was thinking it was, if I recall correctly they didn't have automatic 7 bolts in Japan. So there should be no 13g on a 7 bolt jdm engine. All of the JDM 7 bolts "should" have 16g turbo's.

Should being the operative word, but evidently, according to his pictures, they did have an automatic. Who knew?

I don't think they did have an auto, I think somebody slapped a 13g on there and picked up a free Evo 3 16g.

The easiest way to tell for sure would be the injectors. If it really was a 13g auto car, they would be 390cc injectors, otherwise they'd be 510's I believe.

I think I am going to file a claim against these jokers.....

They have provided me no support whatsoever with this engine....

I just purchased a JDM 7 bolt 4G63t engine with automatic transmission and it has TDO4HL turbo. The alternator plug is different and there are alot of things different on the intake , so I am going to swap my old intake. Are there any more things that I will run into during install ?

The alternator will not work in your 2G, you need a 2G alternator and bracket. Personally, I'd use the Cyclone intake, if it came with one. It has no emissions BS on it, and if used properly, gains some low-end torque due to the dual-runner design. I don't know, however, if the JDM 7-bolts had the Cyclone.

Ok... the latest bit of info I got from the engine supplier is that I will need a JDM ecu and harness out of an evo III Anyone know where I can score these parts ???

I was told by the seller that the engine would drop right in and bolt up, well it didn't, I bolted up the transmission mount and the other 3 are about an inch off, I was told I got an engine out of a GVR4. How do I get this to work?

If it's a 7 bolt it didn't come out of a gvr4. Either way you should be using your original mounts, not the mounts that came with the engine.

Just a FYI, I bought a JDM Cyclone motor from these dill holes, went to pick it up and they were not there (2 hour drive). I waited for 2.5 hours and then they showed, they demanded I payed sales tax because I was picking it up, BASTARDS ( i had already payed paypal and now I had to come out of pocket cash). Anyway it was a 6 bolt Cyclone motor with a 5 speed AWD tranny. When I git it home it found it also had a 13G TD04 Turbo, but it was a 5 speed motor, WTF? So the belhousing on the tranny was cracked, I called them and they responded, "Get it welded". I pulled the head and fond that a timming belt had broke because there were cutom enlarged valve relifes on the pistons (read: valves and pistons collide). It was a over-all bad experince.

I pulled the engine out becasue only 1 mount would line up, I got a 2g treansmission and bolted it up and everything fits perfect now, I had to swap converters also because the output shaft is shorter on the 2g tranny. And by the way it is a 7 bolt.... what could this have come out of? I remember someone saying that they didn't have 7 bolts in japan!

Don't worry your not the only one thats confused a couple of years ago I ordered a JDM
4g63 automatic and came up with the same motor u Have it has a td04hl turbo and I cant figure out what it came off of. I ordered it from japanese automotive in El Paso,tx.

The JDM 7 bolt motors equipped to an awd auto transmissions are from mitsu's rvr. It's an auv only availiable in japan. I'm amazed all you guys had problems with these guys at JDM Addiction, as I just spend 45minutes bullshittin with the guys at the shop as I picked up the exact motor that is being referenced here in the pictures. They seemed pretty straight forward, and hell bent on giving good custormer service.

Yes guys that motor is from an automatic and I'm willing to bet it came of either a EVO3 and as I have read other threads maybe a galant. I bought a JDM motor (7 bolt) of an automatic 2 months ago. I swapped my intake mani, thermostat housing and had to change around a couple of coolant lines and that was it.

A galant motor would be 6 bolt and an EVO III would be manual and have a 16g thats one of those RVR minivan engines.

Yeah you could be right. I am not sure thats why I stated I have read on other threads. An RVR minivan engine is certainly a possibility.

It's a definate my friend. Intercooler is located in a different location on the rvr, hence the different angle of the piping. If you're having a problem installing you CAS because it's not located on the passanger side...all you have to do is peel back that rubber cover, and pry out a small piece of aluminum that sits behind it with a flathead. Install your 97-99 CAS and you should be good.

Just started working on my swap today, good 'ol drivers side axle gave me an hour and a half of shit and killed my sunlight. I'll be swapping over my entire USDM 7bolt intake assembly onto this motor. I've already changed the thermostat housing (crazy japanese motors..they put the radiator cap....on the radiator for christ sake!) I read above someone had to change some coolant line....think you could go into detail for me what you did? might save me some guesswork in the next couple of days??

This is the reason i started buying bushur motors and stopped buying jdm. I have had nothing but bad experiences with them. The last one had the cyclone intake, the motor mounts were wrong, no oil pressure sensor no radiator cap etc. etc. To top it all off when I dropped it in the car it didn't go 100 miles before the cam gear bolt snapped. Replaced the head car runs but the balance shafts are making noise now so I parked the car in the back of my shop rather than playing with it anymore could be an easy fix by eliminating the balance shafts but with the luck thus far forget it. I'll just let it sit there with a brand new paint job I got to rock for less than 100 miles because no one will ever want to touch the evil bi***.
