Hey guys new to the site. I recently bought a 97 gst spyder and a few months later the motor blew up
. Any way I ended up buying another 7 bolt motor from a local engine place. I received the JDM engine today and noticed a few o differences between the 2 and had a few questions.
DIFFERENCES
1) The intake manifold is different along with the intake pipe that goes to the throttle body and the turbo intake.
2) obviously a totally different turbo. casting markings say tdo4hl 14b perhaps? my stock turbo is a t25.
3) it has a front crank sensor behind the timing cover and also has a mounting spot for a cas sensor on the left side of the valve cover just like my current 7 bolt.
both motors are 7 bolts and they both have all four transmission bolt holes like they should.
4) the thermostat housing are different aswell. my current 7 bolt has a cap on it and the one on the replacement motor has a vent bolt in it.
5) there's a oil feed line that bolts to the head next to the thermostat housing and I believe it goes to the turbo?
6) the valve cover is a titanium color instead of silver like my current one
my questions are
1) If I swap intake manifolds, turbo's, and the upper potion of the thermostat housing will this motor work? everything else seem to be the same.
2) can someone help me identify this motor.
3) my 97 cas should bolt right in place and I should be able to use my current ecu along with all my current sensors and what not right?
4) how do these plugs look to you guys?
5) is this an evo 3 motor?
I know this has been covered tons of times before so I apologize. I was confusing my self and just wanted to make sure that my train of thought was correct before proceeding with this swap.
thanks for all the help in advance. I really do appreciate it. just trying to learn and get back up to speed on these fricking DSM'S
Thanks again
