My engine in my 1998 eclipse gsx tooka dirt nap.

I bought an engine from jdmaddiction on ebay, and I am running into some install issues.

can someone please help.

1) quite a few wires have different ends, does anyone have a JDM wiring diagram ?

2) The engine I bought was listed as a drop in for 95-99 eclipses. if so, why does it not have the cam sensor on the passenger side of the engine?

3) The turbos are different

please, anyone give me a hand here....

the turbo outlet comes out the top of the turbo instead of the bottom.

also, the intake is way different as far as vaccum hoses and such

on the throttle body, the throttle linkage is on the front of the intake instead of facing the firewall.

I'll post pictures later....

Search 1g in a 2g. You most likely got the 1G motor which has the 14B. You will get a lot of answers because this has been discussed a million times over.

this doesn't change the fact that this is what I bought.....

JDM ADDICTION LOCATED IN OCALA, FL. HAS FOR SALE:

Mitsubishi Eclipse/Talon 4G63 T Eng/Trans AWD 5spd 95-99 2G

PARTS INCLUDED:

-Engine,5spd Transmission,Turbo Alt,PS,Sensors,Manifolds,

So if it is a 1G engine, they screwed me, and my mechanic is gonna be ticked....

Did they specifically say it was a 7-bolt motor? If not, they didn't screw you, you just didn't ask the right questions. Putting in a 6-bolt is anything but difficult. A little trimming of a motor mount, a little wiring, and you're done. Does the intake manifold say "Cyclone" on it?

you are better off.

take a little extra time, and mabye a few more labor $'s

but your better off.

unless you paid more than value for the 2g. motor

Take a picture of the engine, I don't think it's a 6 bolt. It's probably an Evo 3 engine.

Can you please take a picture of the turbo on the motor. Take the pictures of the compressor or the fan thing in the turbo whatever you want to call it. I have a feeling you might have that rare EVOIII motor.

By no means do I have any experience with these, but I thought I would throw this out there and hope that somebody that knows will be able to tell....... GVR-4 Engine? Just a guess.

What doesn't add up? The 4G63's in Japan used a 13g on their auto cars just like they did here. What's so confusing? I bought a JDM motor for my swap and it had a flex-plate and a 13g on it.

ok... so my new engine doesn't have a cam angle sensor on the left of the valve cover. Can I swap the one from my old engine in?

Yup. Just pull out the little black plug. Depending on the cams that are in there, the intake cam might need to be tapped for it. Or you could just swap over your old cams.
