Look you get a distributor with it. That should be interesting. Not sure where you'll wire that up or hook it up to the engine, but it should prove interesting.

They're full of bs.

Well after some research on JDM Mitsu Galants based on 4g63 found this:

'89 Galants - 4g63 145HP 174TQ motor with 9.0 Compression
'90-91 Galants - 4G63 160HP 186TQ motor with 10.4 Compression
'89-91 Galants tuned by AMG - 4G63 170HP 191TQ motor with 10.4 Compression

As for Turbo it's 210HP which is a well known fact.

I guess once I do a compression test I'll know for sure if it's got 145HP or 160HP.

I was told my 1G JDM 2.0 dohc n/t was about 140hp, it would be about +5hp if I hooked up the cyclone intake butterflies. And this info was from a few guys in the UK.

Data that I found was based on Japanese models and engines, not sure Europe spec might be different. On another hand I have yet too see JDM Non Turbo motor with Cyclone intake.

89 galant- I doubt this it correct as this would be the same engine the galant gsx's which didn't make that hp, and certainly didn't make 174lb/ft of torque. I've heard of a 9:1 compression 4g63 nt that they put into the 2g nt dsm's in europe. But that was a 7 bolt from 95-99 and it only made 150hp and 120lb/ft of torque. Are 4 cylinders have never made more torque than hp.

90-91 galant - Again, highly doubtful their info is correct on this.

89-91 AMG galants - This I could believe, but they did a very limited number of these engines and I doubt that you'd manage to get one just by dumb luck. If it is an AMG motor it will say "Tuned by AMG" on the spark plug cover.

210hp turbos- only 2g's buddy. Awd 1g's were 195, fwd 1g's were 190, 2g manual tranny cars were 210hp, and automatic 2g's were 205 hp.

Hmm, I knew that about 2gs, but I have never heard that 1g awds have more hp than a fwd? What the difference?

Exhaust restrictions, us 1g fwd'ers have to go up and over our rear axle due to its design. It adds some tight kinks and bends that the stock awd's don't have.

I hear AMG is a good motor, maybe some 1G FWD people should think about using this motor.

There was some NA talk a bit on this board and AMG seems the only way to go, if you wanted NA power that is...

I am not talking about US motors here, 4g63T from JDM Galant VR-4 is rated at 210HP.

In Japan they had different Galant models some of the 4G63 models include VR-4, AMG, VS-Z, MX-4, MX and VX-S.

Here are full specs http://www.cars-directory.net/specs/mitsubishi/galant/1990_10/

As for AMG tuned motor I came across atleast two at local JDM importer.

According to the link you provided, the 1990 Galant VR-4 with the 4G63T has:

AT:
207 HP
217 lb./ft. torque

MT:
237 Hp
224 lb./ft. torque

It's has it in kilowatts and newton meters. I just converted it. So, apparently the jdm motor you're looking at is from an AT.

you dont think its likely that they're the same motor? and we're just seeing a difference in something like the exhaust restictions that were noted above in the AT models?

Um, good point. I'm sure that could be partly the reason for the larger Hp number. Even though, I was assuming that like here in the states, the jdm 4G63T gives the MT a slightly larger turbo than the AT, and that's why the MT can put up bigger numbers.
