I need some help guys! I am swaping out my stock 1G motor with a JDM Cyclone motor in my 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. I have taken the blown motor out and have started to swap some things over to the other motor and I've already noticed a few differences. If anyone who has swaped one of these motors and knows what they're doing, please let me know. Thanks alot guys.

You are going to have to be a little more specific than what you are saying. Like exactly what you noticed that's different and any other concerns.

Hi, ive done 2 of them,
and online assisted in about 5 more this winter and spring.

PM me if you still have quetions

I am having trouble with the throttle body and intake manifold vacume lines. On the original motor the vacume lines came out by the coil and connected to the back of the engine bay near the driverside. On the JDM motor the lines are not located here. Not sure what's going on there. Also, near the back of the intake manifold there were two "plug ins" on the old motor. On the JDM motor there is only one. ??????????

the throttle body connectors.

if you notice, all the same sensors are in the same place. on the jdm, the connector is just moved to the front, theres a black wire running out of the sensor, and under the TB to the front.

the jdm throttle body has a different TPS. so if you plan on using the JDM youll have to cut and splice waires.

are you planning on using the cyclone?

the vac lines, your going to have them ALL blocked off anyway so it doenst matter where they go.

I had planned on using the cyclone yes. Is this a bad idea? Also, I am supposed to block off ALL Vacume lines???? Aren't these failry important? (And just the lines that run to the throttle body right???

By using the cyclone the only benifits youll see, is for one, its cool lookin. and two, youll have about 350 RPM sooner power band taking off in gear.

but if you plan on turbo upgrades and big power, its a slight bottle neck at topend.

you cant use your air conditioner.

i used the JDM for 6 monthes, and with the last transplant, i opted to use the usdm. and it starts to pull a few hundred rpm slower, but when it kicks in it flows a lot better on topend.

it runs a lot smoother, and more reliable with the usdm aswell.

the vac lines, are EGR, and the charcoal canister junk.
ofcourse you will be blocking them off, the cyclone if you use it, has no egr. and if you use the usdm, you will be a obiedient dsmer and block it off with a blockoff plate.

Here is the motor in the first dsm

I know this thread is old, i hope someone can help, i am having some difficulties with my swap, i got a jdm cyclone vr4 motor from japan, going into my 1997 eclipse, all mods have been done, it is back in the car, ready to be fired up, when i go to turn my key, i get nothing i just sounds like my fuel pump is on, when we jump the starter it makes a nasty grinding sound. Any suggestions?

i just my eclipse back...

Thank you,
Brian

My question is, anyone who has ever done one of these did you have a problem with the starter not making contact with the flywheel?

the engine i got was supposed to of came out of a galant vr4 which is a awd vehicle, im wondering if maybe thats why my starter is making a clacking noise and is not fully engaging the flywheel, does anyone if this is so? can i just go to a local auto parts store and grab a starter for a vr4? will that work?

Thanks
Brian
