Ok so this is the story with my car. I bought a 92 gsx (1gb) with a blown engine quite some years ago. I bought a JDM engine from one of the import companies and installed it with no problems. I had to switch out some brackets, messed around with the ac compressor and had to move the coil pack to the right hand side (if your are facing the engine bay) because the jdm engine had it mounted on the opposite side ( it think).

Where I started to run into problems is with the ignition wires. First of all in the harness side which is dsm it has a 4 wire connector (Square) two black with yellow stripe and a solid red and a red with a blue stripe. On the engine side, it has a connector with three wires (triangle), one black with a yellow stripe, the red with a blue stripe and the solid red. I connected all the wires using alligator clamps to their respective matching wires.

When I turn the key I can hear the relays engaging and the fuel pump engages but the engine doesn't turn over. The battery is good plenty of charge.

Also I noticed that there is no spark from the coil pack to the spark plug.

Need help please advise.

why don't you just use 4 coil pack with the four wires which came from the blown engine?

no spark means no signal going to the coil pack to fire the individual plugs.

So if your harness has a 4 pin, and your engine has a 3 pin, the for some reason you have a 90 coil pack connector on your 92 engine harness...

Can you post a pic of the two pieces with connectors?

Make sure the CAS connector is connected to the correct plug. IIRC, they can accidentally be plugged into a wrong plug causing a no start condition.
It does sound like a 1990 plug on the harness side of the car (I have no clue why). I have 3 1990's and my 92. The 90's had the odd square plug for the coil where the 92 has the triangle plug.

Update:

I found out why when I turned the key the engine would not turn from the key switch. The wire from the key switch was cut (I don't know why). I joined the wire and now the engine turns over but will not start. Very seldom the engine blows back.

Here are the pictures on how I fixed the whole triangle connector and square connector. I found the connector on the Japanese harness. If you are wondering why I did not use the Japanese harness it is because it is chopped from the ecu side.

I wonder if I have a bad coil pack?

For those who replied THANK YOU!! keep the ideas coming so I am able to put this gsx on the road again.

Update:

I am getting 6 volts to the coil pack when I open the key but when I crank the engine there is no spark to the cylinders.

pauleyman: Hey thanks for the input. The only part of the harness that I had to accommodate was the part shown. The original harness was not hacked into. The part of the harness that you see is the Japanese harness that came with the jdm engine. If you are looking at the engine bay I know that the coil pack is on the right-hand side.

Like I said the engine cranks over but there is no combustion.

Getting frustrated:beatentodeath::idontknow:

All of the things under the hood were in pretty bad shape. Too late for that. Now I need to figure it out :banghead:
