Hi DSM Tuners!

I bought a year 1996 Eclipse GST a week ago and I love it. :)
Car is from Japan, so few things differ from the US Eclipse..(No leather interior and no cruise control, kilometers in the speed meter and rear lights have yellow color in the turn signal part. And...There is japanese text! :p

So, I would like to know what the writings on the sticker of the driver's door means.

Could it be changed timing belt, or some other important repair notice? What ever it is, it was made quite recently.

If there is anyone who understands Japan, please help. :)

Thanks!

I can make out the katakana, but no so much the kanji.

The first part says o-ee-roo, which sounds an awful lot like oil, so it probably means oil change.

The bottom part says eh-reh-men-to, which sounds like element; probably as in air filter element.

That's an oil change sticker from Matsumoto Car Company.
The oil and filter were changed.

Wow, thanks for the replies guys! :)

I thought I would not get a single answer. :) Oil and filter change then..ok. I have to hurry up changing oil and filter again, cause the car has almost 93 thousand kilometres on the meter.

Ok people, I will post few pics. :)

It also has JDM stock aluminium alloys...only 15" and look..Well not like US ones! :D

Mitsubishi Eclipse turbo models are pretty rare in Finland, new ones were never sold here. First I thought of byuing Nissan 200SX (Silvia S14a) but Eclipse just captured my interest. And in our town, mine is the ONLY Eclipse. :thumb:

Are there any external markings that show it's a Mitsu? I noticed that the front bumper doesn't have the little symbol and it doesn't look like the rear has any writing. It looks really stylish! Do you know what parts are stock or if anything has been changed?

+1 on the engine pics

It had the eclipse logo on the back but it was removed. If you look closely youll notice it.

It may have come to you by way of Japan, but all 1Gs and 2Gs were built in Illinois.
Your taillights are Eu, and your speedometer is what was used in Canada.
There are no "JDM" 1 and 2G DSMs.

Hmm, ok. :) In Finland we just call them JDM's, even we do know that all turbo Eclipses were made inside US. I know it is basically wrong, but that way we get the idea. :)

- Yes, ex owner of the car removed the logos and the Eclipse text. It is wuite funny actually when people say "hey, nice car....But what make and model it is?" :p

Well, here is a somekind of list of all mods I have found in the car:

- 3" pipe all the way from the motor with Blitz Exhaust..(Maybe complete Blizt "packace"..???)
- K&N Air filter
- Blitz twin solenoid boost controller with...
- ...Blitz pressure gauge
- turbo timer, I do not remember make now...H&R...or something

That is all I can remember now. :p

BTW, just for gags, in theory, how much HP my car has with those mods, I mean with the air filter and the exhaust system...with stock pressure. Any guesses? I will take it to dynometer soon, but what do u experts say?

And is there some list of dynometer HP results somewhere? :)

Thanks again!

EDIT: Engine pics coming soon! I will take few pics tomorrow when I have time. :)
But if you ask me, the engine looks good and clean...And almost like the stock engine. Only noticeable difference is the air filter.

230hp..I was thinking the same. :)

Here is a pic from the engine and a pic from the threshold when door is opened. Is there similar text in the US Eclipses?

Hmm left hand drive? Japanese mail delivery vehicle, LOL? Do a VIN search i think this might be from canada originally.

Nope, defently not Canadian as Mitsu wasn't even sold in Canada until something like 2002. All the "DSM" Eclipses up here are imported.

Holy crap! 2002? What is wrong with car companys? Always sell cars in the markets with least interest first and then eventually get to the markets that really like them. Are European friend here is a good example. They go all out just to find one, imagine what would have happened if they had opened shop in 95 and started selling ecplipses.

I'm guessing it was one made for Europe. The rear bumper is definitely setup for one of the typical long plates. Japanese plates are not that long, they are more like US plates, where it would look really strange on that bumper. That's part of the reason I was asking what was stock and what has been changed.
