Got a Jacks Trans double synchro trans. Less than 1000 miles on it.
Having issues shifting.
While running. Grinding gears. Some times get locked out. 1st & 3rd seem like they are the worst.
With the motor off. Very notchey. Getting locked out of 3rd when shifting 2nd - 3rd but not noticeable when shifting 4th - 3rd. Again, the motor is not running. Other gears also notchey and getting locked out.
What should I check? Cables? Lever select?
Have solid bushings on the shifter base and the level select.

if you drove it for a while with the clutch dragging badly the trans will need new hubs/sliders and synchros. It's simple as that. If the trans is toast, no clutch adjustment/magic fluid/voodoo is gonna fix it. You need to fix the drag issue you had. If the clutch isn't disengaged by the time the pedal is 3" off the floor something is boned.

Update:
The tranny is still notchey as f***. I've replaced the flywheel, pressure plate, disc. I ran a SS braided line from the clutch master to slave. New master, new slave. Adjusted the pedal. Everything I've done has had little to no impact.

Over time it has loosened up a little. I changed the break in fluid. It came out silver. It's definitely doing something it's not supposed to. Also, when riding a gear with 0 throttle it makes a horrible whirring sound from 5000 down to 2500 RPM. Every gear.

I'm just going to keep driving it and if it dies then I'll get a new one. Definitely NOT from Jack's trans though. They have been no help at all.

I've got fresh fluid in there about 2 months ago. I'll be draining in a month or so it to see if it comes out silver again.

Sorry to hear man. The shifter linkage that bolts to the transmission that braces both shift cables may be canted too much forward or backwards/unless you already checked that.

Loosen the two 12MM bolts, move forwards of backwards, re-tighten. I can't tell you exactly where it should be, but there should be equal left and right neutral play when correct. Let me know if you find the proper spot LOL/I go by feel on that one.

The transmission will shift very notchy and the "gates" will feel like they are out of place if that is off.

Good luck!

Yup. Figured as much. $2600 down the drain.

It wasn't right from day 1. The stock trans that was in there shifted better. It had 250,000 kms on it. Wish I kept it so I could put it back in.

The "break in" fluid it was silver. It has new fluid now. Will check back on it in a month.

When you say "move forwards of backwards". Do you mean the linkage? or shift into 3rd/4th?

Nothing will save it exernally. Why are you driving another month? Drop it now and find out what's wrong before it's completely destroyed if it isn't already. Something aluminum is ground up. You can wait until is grenades or maybe save it.

That loose bracket is an issue & not helping anything. Regardless on the tranny that should be corrected.
