Overall, i think working on a DSM is pretty damn easy. They seem to have put some thought into the design of the car overall, as wrenching on a DSM is usually smooth and "curse less".

What do you guys think?

it gets better with experience...at least with me anyways. Before it used to take me about an hour and a half to get the intake pipe off so i could tighten my t clamps to my IC piping...now, it only takes me 15 mins:thumb: I'm like a NASCAR pit crew when it comes to the stuff i already have done (according to my friends anyway, LOL)

I think a lot has to do with the tools that you use. I have a decent amount of tools and it makes a job a lot less hassle and quicker

oh yea...cant forget about tools! no matter where i go, i have these things in my car: 156 pc toolkit, Maglite, zip ties and extra t clamps, and a can of hairspray for those damned IC pipes that wont stay in place:thumb:

Easy? somethings, and thats only if you make it that way by removing a ton of stuff, ie cruise control, ac, emissions, etc. 100% easy? not even close. Try re-placing the power steering rack on a 2g awd, or buying a car from someone who doesn't know what anti-seize is, bolts best friend by the way. As far as the person who said replacing the knock sensor was difficult, just take a socket and cut a slit in it similiar to a o2 socket. or just cut the wire off the old one and remove it with a regular socket. The new one should only be put on with 17ft lbs or so, so it shouldn't take long to screw in.

Mine seems to be a peach to work on... not easy, but forgiving for someone who's never worked on a car before, and you learn pretty quick when you're taking care of it yourself. Swapping on the new exhaust, changing out the fuel pump, or even doing the timing belt isn't anywhere near as unpleasant as I'd thought it might be, so long as you have the right tools and use them. Oh, and keep a few sizes of cheater bar when you just have crappy short-shank wrenches and girly arms. :D

Are you sure they're from working on cars? :D

OP, you have a 1G so you'll get to perform the most PITA job, pulling, welding and reinstalling the clutch pedal assembly. Do not attempt this job if you're over 40. :)

I didnt have to pull any of that stuff off to weld it...:thumb:

It get's easier over time ;)

This is true.

Id say 1gs are fairly easy to work on... I own a gst and awd gsx, both easy to work on room wise.
Stuck bolts and old parts are what give headaches.
Now my friends 2g is a little more annoying to work on due to the 2gs cramped engine bay.

ROFL You guys are like that bunch of old men at Micky D's at the crack of dawn drinking their "senior coffee" talkin' 'bout their wivesROFL .

With a rasp: "She's tough ol' broad but hard as he!! to please. . ."

My wife vs. my DSM:

1. My wife is more rewarding. But harder to please.
2. She is more reliable but harder to reason with.
3. She is better to my kids, but not to my beer money.
4. Both love me, but are rough about it.
5. Both like long walks.
6. Both finish first most of the time.
7. And if they don't, I hear about it.
8. And both keep me up at night:D .

I love 'em.

Hey, I have to do for the 4th time now.

However, it's fairly easy to work on it. I mean, I have never wrenched ever, before I got my car. And even I say it's fairly easy.:p Now, I'm about to finish putting a race car together, hopefully, I can still have it as a DD:sneaky:

I have to give thumbs up:thumb: to this web-site, w/o it I would have gotten rid of my car. And would spend a ton of money, having my cars get fixed by somebody.
