However, people have been paying absurd prices for them ever since, so there's your measure of "worth".

Considering a lot of lightly modded one's go for $30,000+, I think it's worth the price. It would most definitely cost more to get one built by a shop. It's a 8-9 second track car done right. I wonder how much an 8 second DSM would cost with the exact mods?

You just have to take into consideration the time that it took to build the car. Yes, it may take less money to build the car yourself, but buying a turn-key car that is built to that extent I'd say it's not unreasonable. I mean hell, a Magnus longblock goes for over $10k

Same. You know what a drag car can do really well.... it can find the wall or obstruction on either side of it very quciky.

Besides personally for 70K I would rather buy a 88 T2 Rx7, a 93 Rx7, a 91 240sx, a 92 GSX, 99 GSX, a 94 300zx TT..... and a Civic just for the hell of it. I'm pretty sure I'd still have enough cash left over to mod them all.
