is this piston still Usable?

I got a set of used pistons, all look good but one, the guy I got them from said he reused them before.

As you can see it has some small pits right on the top...

This is along the lines of what i was thinking. It probably could be used if you smoothed out the pitted areas, but it isn't a good idea because the piston could be damaged structurally.

If you are doing a low budget build, and they are a good forged piston, and they mic' out spec or very close to it, and you are going to stay under 400hp, and the rings are not sticky in the lands... Go ahead and build a granade engine. See what you can do with it....

But if you are wanting an engine for the long term... Get some new ones.

Iif you clean it up good it would be fine, as long as the ringlands aren't pinched.
