crank seal still usable?

I had a hard time getting this seal in. While doing it I had managed to make some little knicks. I'm wondering if this will affect anything..I don't want a oil leakage. No biggie I just rather use the $14 on oil or something besides ANOTHER seal.

I can't even tell from this pic you need to get a better one up.
But just to be on the safe side i would just spend the $14 dollars on a new one.

I already ordered another one, just need a few opinions. BTW, what's a good technique to get these things in without messing it up? I don't think I have a socket big enough for it. This thing was a bi*** to get in.

No i'm not blind..you asked for imput and that's what i gave you next time don't ask if you are gona act like a little kid.try to invest in a better camera.
Also the pic you posted up has a 2007 date..wtf?

I'd replace it not even worth the risk. Whats 14 dollars compared to hours of extra work that could have been avoided.

Besides lubing up the seal what's a good way to drive it in place?

I did my seal about two months ago and all I did was pop it into place, put a flat peice of board on it and tapped it in with a rubber hammer. I have not had any leaks so far.

It looks like those nicks are on the exposed part of the steel ring, the part of the seal that does no sealing. There are three places where a nick could cause a leak; the crank itself, the block where the seal sits, or the outside portion of the seal that mates to the block. As long as none of those were messed up, and the seal is in straight you are fine.

If you don't have a large enough socket, use a piece of 2x4.
