Is this piece part of the cylinder head?

I am in the middle of putting the cylinder head back on the block when I noticed this little metal piece on the ground where the head had been sitting. Anyone know where or what this piece is? Thanks

Is that the alignment dowel on the block? Or is that a dowel for the cam caps? Check all of that. If not then ive never seen that.

That might be an alignment dowel. There should be 2 that go into the block to keep the head centered.

how about on the back of the timming cover. there is lil peices like that for the supports where it bolts the the block. each one has a lil plastic port for itself.
