I did it to my 99gst, i am in the process of putting a 14b an i cleaned the intercooler out. I was told that taking that plastic piece off lets the intercooler get more air. obviously!
its obvious to me that it would get less air without it.

I would keep it. It is duct work to ensure the air that enters the vent on the bumper goes THRU thei IC not AROUND the IC. with out it some air will go thru and cool but some will just move around it. It dont weight crap and is easy to remove incase you have to remove your IC. Just keep it.

Mine is off because when I cleand my ic I forgot to put it back on.
You'll get more payoff if you seal it around the edge at the intercooler. I don't know if the IC gets too warm for duct tape or not.Originally posted by redturbo66
