Little piece on top of the cylinder head? What is it?

Anyone know what im tlaking about is held on by 3 bolts next to plug 4..... my question is what is it and does it need a gasket?

That'd be your coolant thingy (of course I forget the name right now) and yes please dear god put on a gasket or you'll leak, smoke, and then overheat when its all said and done.

Uhhh, yea that's it . I was thinking elbow, but I knew that was the wrong body part.

If you mean under the valve cover, that's what runs the oil to the cams. No gasket. "Oil Delivery Body".
