what is the sensor on top of the intake manifold?

what kind of sensor is on the top of the intake manifold? i have a 2g with a six bolt swap and a 1g intake manifold... but there is an electronic sensor on top of it and it is leaking causing me to idle poorly... anyways i was wondering if it is needed if i need to replace the sensor... i have an electronic boost controller and turbo timer that is also my boost guage.. is it for one of those sensors?

ok ya it is my map sensor... and the guy who did the 6bolt swap in my car i guess tapped the 1g manifold for the un-needed 2g sensor... so now i have 3 holes in my manifold... and im kinda lazy so i dont want to have to replace it with my spare manifold... 2 of the holes are for the screws... so they are easy to seal... but the other is about a 1/4 of an inch in diameter... whats the best way of sealing that/???

also as soon as the map sensor broke my check engine light came on and i started to have cruizing problems... where my car would bogg pretty bad... is something else wrong? i never really heard of boost leaks causing the check engine light to turn on...
