Is this an okay catch can?

Hey everyone, getting close to finishing my rebuild, and was wondering through the parts I had and I remembered this catchcan that came with my car from the previous owner (new, unopend box) and was wondering if it was okay or even worth it to use this kind? I think it's a universal catchcan, since there's no brand name or markings anywhere on the can.

Is there a way to tell if a catchcan's any good or not? Are ebay catcans (like this possibly) any good at all? What are good brands for catchcans?

Does it matter which kind of catcan hooks up on either side of the PCV system? Like one specifically for the intake manifold to the valvcover, and one specifically between the intake pipe and the valve cover?

Yea that is wrong there is no vacuum going to either your pcv or the valve cove.

Guess you missed the vacuum box on the firewall with the obvious line running towards the catch can. :)

Those things are nice. I may actually need to invest in one.

Vacuum box? What

the hell are you talking about?

We really don't know about these?

I woke up 30 minutes ago - so... I guess I'm missing my mistake here.

Edit : Wait, my mistake. It's a Vacuum Distribution Block.

I'm not gonna spoon feed you but you are completely wrong. That is NOT a "vacuum box". Take a look at where the lines are going and then do a little research for yourself. This is hilarious ROFL

Is it.. not?

Man, these sure look like fittings and taps for vacuum fittings to distribute a single or multiple vacuum sources to several other avenues in a cute little box.

Hey, look.. it's on Ebay too...Labeled as a "Vacuum distribution block".

That is NOT a vacuum box. . .

Damn, you beat me to calling him out on that ROFL

Kei, take another look and then think about what you just typed.

I thought I was reading that wrong at first.

Ill spoon feed it to him. Kei, it's for meth silly goose. . . I was like wtf, a vacuum box? LOL. It's a distribution block for meth.

Distribution block for his meth/alcohol/water injection nozzles.

Edit: I thought you would've noticed the 4 nozzles on the upper IC pipe. We all learn something new everyday man.

I did notice, but like most I simply assumed that he was overcompensating by being a jackass as we can tend to be and run 4 consistent sources for vacuum. Honestly it's an idea that I would honestly use and via looking exactly as the "Vacuum Distribution Blocks" that searching provided with several people using in lieu of running directly off of the manifold and the fact that it looks the exact same under the exact name provided a Google search - I guess one would assume wrong.

But hey, who's counting how many times someone assumes the name of an object is misleading. :thumb:

By the way -

The PowerLab Billet Vacuum Distribution Block is designed to allow for consistent vacuum from one source which can be distributed to up to 4 vacuum ports to support all engine parts, gauges and sensors that require vacuum. This is a must for all forced induction vehicles lacking the vacuum ports necessary from factory. Common use with Fuel Pressure Regulators, Boost Controllers, Blow Off Valves, Boost Gauges, etc.

I... don't see "Meth Injection" anywhere in there. Us 'lesser' members with no knowledge would get mislead by such descriptions, wouldn't we?

Also doesn't look like the one from Buschur, either.

Kei,

The colored push to connect fittings are typically a dead giveaway. As with the vacuum distribution block they use screw in fittings as you see in the links you provided.

Of course, I'm now educated - however you can't simply scream at someone with sarcasm. Either of those could be used exactly as the user wishes. ;) Now considering that they are the exact same part used for separate functions one can agree that certain things can be misleading.

So I'll formally apologize for saying that a pot was cooking beans instead of rice. For one that doesn't use methanol nor plans on it this bit evaded me.

Thanks for the spoon feed.

LOL I think I was a little shocked at first at your post, being that you're typically very knowledgeable and your posts are very informative. My apologies if I came off sounding like a dick. ;)

Hey, no sweat. I honestly had no idea that a very similar object was used for 2 individual functions and the term "Vacuum Box/Block" was unknown. Checking our site for evidence when someone asks about it - it usually begins with "what the hell is a vacuum block?" so it wasn't surprising.

Ironically I was looking at picking up the one from Buschur racing today as I was inspecting it last night. Seems like a legitimate way to clean things up and hide lines, certainly something we all want to do.

Not going to lie, I was curious why he had 4 lines run, but again I assumed it was compensation. And it's also ironic that the feed line runs directly towards the catch can. Then I simply figured "Oh, like our stock PCV, it has a check valve so under boost it doesn't blast air in and out of boost there's vacuum. Works gorgeously."

:p Sometimes we all look dumb.
