Hey I got this ECU today in the mail. It was claimed to be a EPROM ECU. I've been looking on ECMTuning trying to figure out if it actually is a EPROM.

So unless I'm missing something completely this is a non EPROM ECU correct?

I dont even think thats a turbo ecu, let alone eprom. It doesnt have the knock board.

It looks identical to my 97 ECU. The case numbers read that its a EPROM ECU (compared the numbers off ECMTuning) but when i opened it up there was no EPROM.

I'm still new to the identifying ECUs that's why I posted this up and asked. The guy I bought it from said it was an honest mistake and is gonna buy an EPROM ECU out of his own pocket and send it to me

GOOD GUY!!

Nice!!!! You got lucky, I guess there are still some honest people out there, glad it worked out for ya. :thumb:

Wow, that is very rare for you to get a seller that nice. Props to him!!!

This is why when someone says "The case has an 'E' and the part number matches" I always ask them to open it up. Many people either will not or just stop talking to me at that point. I've even had some junkyards refuse to do it. Lesson learned, but good to hear things will end well.

Yea hope that works out. Maybe someone slipped one by him with that phony eprom case.

In this link the knock board is circled in green.

Which your board doesnt have. Pretty sure its a n/t board.

What you have linked to is a 1G ECU. 2G ECUs look pretty different.

The easy way to know that this is in fact a turbo ECU is to read the numbers off the white connector portion of the unit "1672". Reference those numbers on steve's site (Eclipse Talon Laser Galant 3000GT Stealth ECU ID Reference) and you'll see it matches the numbers for the 95 turbo non-EPROM ECUs.
