I want to boost to 17 psi on my toy 91 eagle talon FWD turbo. The car is totally stock. Is there a way to bypass fuel cut without buying a HKS FCD or eprom chip w/ecu or hacked MAF? thanks

You should beable to do 15-16psi on the first gen without fuel cut unless you have a boost leak or something else causing you to hit fuel cut. But i would check for boost leaks to make sure you dont have any because that is 1 of the main factors that cause fuel cut. Just do all the free upgrades to it that are in our tech articles.

larger injector, safc, dsmlink, better fuel delivery system & controller, tuning. many many things! Threads been started on how fuel cut occurs and the fix. GL!

!!!! this is a down and dirty, might blow your shit up method!!!!!

1. install a walbro 190
2. install a n/t fpr
3. cover the bottom 1/4" of the upper honey comb in your mass with ducttape.
4. run good gas and pull 1-2* of base timing.
5. log the shit out of it.

the n/t frp raises your fp to 43psi, so you if you make the maf think less air is flowing your golden.

Turn the boost down.

Seriously, if you aren't logging and you don't have an upgraded fuel system your car is not safe at more than 15 psi and probably you shouldn't even do that since you are talking about an 18 year old car, set the boost to 13psi and do a boost leak test. When you have all of the leaks fixed then start logging runs at 1psi increments until you find that you are knocking or hit 16psi. Don't go past 16psi without an upgraded fuel pump. Don't go past 17-18psi without upgraded injectors and a way to control them.

Also if the car is an automatic then you should tell us since the recommendations are different.

N/T fuel pressure regulator sits at 47psi base. The automatic turbo regulator sits at 43 psi. Which FPR are you suggesting?

The gvr4 maf (no lower honeycomb) or hacked 1g maf reads about 5% less volume flow. This would mean that a base fuel pressure of 41 psi would be ideal. So I assume you mean the automatic turbo FPR not the n/t fpr. . .

OP, don't mod your car without a logger. We can't tell you what your car will do with Xpsi. Fuel cut is not determined by boost or even total airflow. It is determined by mass/revolution. This is a volumetric efficiency number. When 2.55grams/rev is reached, your ecu will cut the injectors off. At what boost does the stock setup put out 2.55grams/rev? The weather changes this, the elevation changes this, how clean your intecooler is changes this, how clean your airfilter is changes this.

I thought Ive read that installing a N/T FPR on a 1G makes the injectrs flow like 550's? I would just think that would be really rich.

N/T fuel pressure is 47psi base. Fuel pressure used to measure injector flow rate is 43.5psi.

sqrt(47psi/43.5psi) = 1.04

1.04 X 450cc = 568cc

But you need to fool your ecu into useing 507 cc injectors. Base fuel pressure a 1g is 37psi.

sqrt(47/37) = 1.127

1.127 X 450cc = 507cc

IOW, set your maft to 507cc. Set your safc to (450cc/507cc) - 1 = -11%
